DR: can you put some simple green on a rag or paper towel and wipe off the sides? i can see a FAINT LABEL and maybe a #80. any chance it weighs 80 pounds? can you weigh it?

nice looking anvil, but not certain of maker.

also welcome to GJ and hope you stick around especially if you are planning on keeping that anvil cause we need a lot more guys with blacksmithing skills.

cheers

I did weight it,it is 186 lbs.since pics were taken I wire wheeled it.there is nothing there. The notch in front leg is so unique I can't find anything like it

Dr: can you post up new pictures after the wire wheeling? do you have any cleaner or simple green that might pull out the name? wire wheeling these old anvils can sometimes wipe off any name that might have been stamped or cast on to them, but shouldn't hurt the anvil unless you are really removing a lot of material.

great size for an anvil at 186 pounds and in my world about PERFECT cause i can still lift it if i need to move it, but solid for almost any job.
