Guys, I've lurked here for years, and many of you probably know me from other forums, but this is my first post here.
Anyway, its taken me years to score an anvil that met my criteria of being heavy (over 200lbs at least), having a near mint face, and being affordable, but this past week I finally did just that.
So without further adieu, meet THE BEAST!
I spent this weekend beginning the cleanup phase of removing the ugly orange paint. Looks better already.

ETA- The seller also threw in both of those huge 24" Crescent and Proto US made wrenches for a mere $25 for the pair!

Anyhow, the pics dont really do this beast justice. It was almost as wide as the tailgate on my little Ford Ranger. It weighed out at 325lbs!

If you get some closeups of any marking we will run it though the book and give you what ever history/Details we can.

Well I'm about 90% sure its an American Wrought brand anvil. This is a company that was started by a former Hay Budden employee and was only in business from 1899 to 1910 IIRC. They made very high quality anvils. You can faintly make out what appears to be the E-R-I-C-A-N on mine. Pic doesnt show it that well. The white lettered anvil in the 2nd pic is of another American Wrought anvil that I just grabbed off the net to compare. Again, my pic doesnt show what remains of the stamp that well.

One other thing guys, as for how I will mount it, well I dont know just yet. I'm wanting to do it up right though. I've seen some really cool "hold down straps/hardware etc over the years, but I honestly dont recall what all is out there and what people are doing? Definitely open to ideas though...

I made it for a future spring loaded hold-down. Figured I could always cut it off if I never used it.

Going back this week to pick up a big Husky rollaround toolbox base with ball bearing drawer slides for $50. Its about time my tool buying luck changed. Finally the tool gods have shined upon me. I think they started feeling sorry for me and realized I needed some luck for a change.

I "potted" one in urethane, similar to but quite a bit fancier than, AVE's video on youtube, and am very very happy with the results.

Don't feel bad bro, these anvils are a gazillion dollars in my area too, IF you can even find them to begin with. Luck is all one can hope for these days...
