Anvil ****!!!

Here are some pictures from my dad's small hobby blacksmith shop where he stores some of his anvil collection

Look close because they are hidden among all of the other tools he got in there

Here is his power hammer which is a truly amazing and dangerous tool

I only see 3, nice shop and love that ironworker machine! What does he use for a forge?

More of the hammers and drill press. The shop is full of old signs he's collected over the years

Here is one of his swage blocks and the lower legs of the forge

Here is his forge setup. The hood and stand were made and it's fed air through a Champion blower to get the coal white hot

His tongs are in the background

Another anvil and his Athol 4.5" vise on the bench

Outside is where the one of the bigger anvils and post leg vises are mounted

I'm not sure of the brand but I think it's a Peter Wright and about 275lbs or more

BC: thanks for sharing. is there any weight stamps on the side of the big anvil? it looks like a 350 pounder or in that range. i bet your dad can make almost anything if he gets a little material in his hands.

I think the markings on that one have been severely damaged or removed. He's been collecting anvils for 30+ years and has some real gems in the collection.

If I get a chance to ever take pics of the bigger/ more rare ones, I will. He just keeps the smaller one handy since they take up less room and are handier for smaller projects.


Here is a picture of his garage where you can see his other interests which are BMW motorcycles and pre war Schwinn bicycles. His Suzuki is in the foreground and the BMWs are off to the right. There is about 30 rare 30s-40s Schwinn in the garage, house and shed

Yes it is. That was found somewhere in OK as a "pickup only" on ebay.
