Just picked this up my first anvil pretty good condition overall, it does have a small broken rear corner. Decent rebound throughout the face going to clean it up and and mount it properly to the wood block. Also picked up at the same auction a Wilton 1760 excellent working condition. Few cut marks on it needs to be cleaned up, my first bullet vise pretty excited.

I’d say you had a pretty good day! I’d also say that I am VERY jealous of your anvil. Not sure where you are located, but if you have buyer’s remorse on the anvil - I have cash…

I picked up an identical anvil earlier this summer. I machined it flat and square. It has a 5/16 steel plate that’s lamented to the casting, so luckily I didn’t need to remove much material.
IMG_5419.jpeg
Used some fiberglass filler on it
IMG_5425.jpeg
Epoxy primed it

Then painted it with a 2k automotive paint. Ended up selling it for enough of a profit I was several hundred ahead on the deal and ended up getting my Wilton 3C for free out of the deal.

Those Vulcan Anvils are a bit on the light side at 85#. However the knife making guys love them and I had a stupid number of people want to buy it.

That's really nice work!

Now all you need is to find a roadrunner, a coyote and a 1,000' cliff..........
