Hi Fellas
This is my first post on this web site. Just by looking around I have learned a lot. The contractors are going to start next week on my new 30x40 garage. Needless to say I am realy excited. I could sure use any advice and mabey some tips on things I should do make my new garage the best it can be. One thing I have noticed while looking around this sit is that I didn't see a lot of garages that had floor drains in them. I told the concrete guy I wanted a floor drain so if I park a wet vehical or decide to wash one I won't have water standing in the floor. Am I doing wrong? I'm also going to have water and gas lines ran. Any thing you guys can think of that I should now is the time while they are building. I'll take some pictures along of the build and try to post them here.
Thanks Guys
Mike

Welcome to garage journal. While you look around in here you can do a search for threads for specific info. Be sure to state where you are so the proper info can be offered. What is the floor drain going to connect to? Hard to get floor drains permitted sometimes and where I am they can't hook to the sanitary sewer. Water has to go somewhere and cities are picky about what goes into the sanitary system and are sometimes very protective about the storm sewer system. Gas line don't go in the slab where I am from. Are you going to have a restroom or sink then provisions to hook up to the sanitary sewer or septic would be necessary. Did you need to get permits? Some one will chime in especially when you post in the particular sections.

I live in Southern Illinois. I am planning to just run the drain out the back of the garage in th the back yard. I live in a small town I don't think anyone will say any thing. It will be just gray water no sewer. For the walls I thought about sheet rock for a cleaner look but now I think mabey osb four feet up for durability. What do you guys use on your walls?

You'll get a lot more feedback to your posts in the other sections, like general discussion, flooring, garage gallery. This section doesn't get near as much attention on a consistent basis. Try some other section and you might get more responses than you can handle.
