Hmmm, you buy all American tools. Then you happen to drive by the factory one day and see that over half the vehicles in the lot are foreign. This means that by buying the American tool you have enabled other people to send the money overseas.
You have now cost even more Americans their jobs than you saved.:D

Interesting view of world economics.... :)

What about the rest of the folks (the less than half portion) in that plant that are driving the "non-foreign" brands that are mostly made in Mexico or Canada? I guess as long as it says something like "non-foreign" on their vehicles then it's okay to buy their product... :( :)

This is all too confusing to me...

And yes, the troll is wining :spit::spit:

Yeah I already said I'm not trolling. And even asked for this thread to be cleaned of posts like this. I am not a troll anytime anywhere, as I refuse to participate in such immature behavior. Sorry if you can't learn anything from a thread that poses these questions, but some of us can.

I can learn much from a post like this if it specifically ask's about the significance of an individual tool or brand. Posts such as your's are destined to create animosity.

The premise of your question is kind of silly if you ask me. Hard to believe we have 5 pages debating the merits of your question. On the other hand, it achieved exactly the effect you wanted it seems.

There are plenty of patriotic people on this board that would prefer to buy US made tools first and foremost I'm sure. On the other hand, that is not always practical, so we buy what represents the best value for our money.

Immature behavior, pot - meet kettle.

Foreign corporations in the US pay taxes whereas alot of the US corporations put their money oversea to avoid paying tax (look up tax inversion). US corporations put away $2.5 trillions in foreign countries to avoid paying taxes to the US government (they rather pay tax to foreign countries at a lower rate). Apple is the biggest tax dougger.

Whether its my fault or not, it appears my point has gone whizzing high over your head. I've learned several things from this thread. You're around here a lot more than me, so you'd think you'd realize that yes, there are going to be people who come in who need to learn/talk about simple concepts that you got finished with perhaps years ago. It doesn't look like you're understanding what I'm saying. That 5 pages, should be an indicator for you. If it were so unnecessary, so pointless, you wouldn't have so many people making serious minded posts about it. For which I'm greatly appreciative. Whether you realize it or not, I'm trying to decide what's right for me. Where I fall on this issue. What the advantages, and disadvantages may be, to this mindset. Because I've still got a lot of tools to buy, and I will be buying them sooner rather than later.

And I would appreciate it if people like you would just stay on topic.

To the OP.

There are many ways of deciding a course of action and many factors that can motivate you.

If you base your decisions on a purely dollars and cents, price/performance metric, then you will make one set of decisions. It can include valuing fit and finish, durability, resale value and other factors.

But of course, we are humans, and most of us have other governing factors.

Humans are social animals who group themselves together by social groups. We group ourselves by neighborhoods, cities, states, countries, international alliances, sports teams, religions, political factions etc. etc.

Some of these groupings may also matter to you, or not, and may or may not factor into your decisions.

It's up to you.

^This from the OPs own mouth, describes exactly what trolls exist for. Appreciative is not the right word, for they merely 'get off' by sucking others energy into the void, the more energies expended the better they feel. Trolls rarely add any substance to the thread, may only reappear to fan the flames. They pretend to use ambiguous questions with hot button issues, and they don't really care about the answer b/c there is none. Other mental disorders become apparent when kept engaged by questioning the supposed innocence.
Thank you for the confirmation, Now shoo off and research your dumb question in the corner.
