Any Anglia owners?

New guy here. I just stumbled across the website and I had to join in. Hope you don't mind. I'm a lover of the old late 40s Anglias. Any of you guys own one? Nice to meet you all.

Don't own one, but spent four years in my teens helping build a street rod out of one. 327 Chevy, 400 turbohydramatic trans, 3:73 gears in the rear. It was a squirrelly sucker under full throttle. My mentor owned it, along with another with a straight six that he drag raced. Ever noticed how the turn signals work on one? They are small stalks that flip out of the B pillar, then retract afterward.

I do own a '59 Anglia. It's a project that I'll get around to building sometime. Unfortunately, it's nothing like the early '40s Anglias.

Agreed! Anyone else remember that early VW Beetles had them too?

Until I just searched, I'd never heard these referred to as "trafficators". But apparently, they are:

Welcome to Garage Journal! You don't hear about Anglias too often and you see them even less (if ever it seems!) My family had an Anglia that unfortunately we sold a few years ago. It was my great grandfathers car and My uncle had it running about 15-20 years ago but he didn't really have the time for it and it was just parked in a barn after that. I probably could have aquired it but I had also inherited a 31 Model A from the other side of the family. I didn't have the resources or space for both so I had to choose. I had a lot of good memories with my Grandfather and his Model A, but I didn't really have a history with the anglia so the model A won. I'll have to contact the guy we sold it to one of these days and find out if he has done anything with it! Here are a few pictures I took of the Anglia a few years ago.

I had a '59 and a '60 Anglia they were worlds apart too. I put a Lotus 1600 DOHC w/Webers in the '60 that made it was a lot of fun.

All told I like the '40's version much, much better.

I have a customer with a 48, all original, he puts on 5000 mi a year. I see it once a year, for points/condenser/timing and set the carb. Test drive always makes it a great day. He should be in this spring, getting ready to do his summer of show and shines, I will snap some pics and post.

I've only ever ridden in one once, a 105e that a guy at school (in the 80's) had.

1966 105e, 1600 cross flow, twin Weber carbs, Sierra 5 spd gearbox, Mk1 Capri struts with coilovers, Wilwood 4 pot brakes with Capri ventilated and cross drilled rotors, Mk2 Cortina track arms, 13x7 superlight mags, Burton pedal box etc. Taken a few weeks ago at the Tauranga All Ford Day.

Welcome from Ohio, to The Garage Journal. Yesterday I was at TP Tools here in Canfield, Ohio. They have 2 buildings that house the owners car collection and they are opened to the public on Saturdays, so I stopped. Talking with the greeter at the door, an older gentleman. He pulls out a racing news paper featuring him and his 1948 Anglia with a 454, .060 over, running 9.83. The man is 78 years old! Interesting man.
