Any Electrishions here? Hot wire from pole nicked?

I just had the neighbor install a 200amp service and when installing the box cover he ran the cover screw threw the wire on the hot side of box directly from meter! He tapped it up but I don't expect tap to stick forever. Is there a way a home owner can make a permanent fix?

33+ will stick there pretty near forever, maybe some heat shrink tubing would be better. I assume its in the breaker panel where this happened?

Yes it's in the box he used 3M 127 tap or something like that not 33+.

No, It's 3/0 and to eliminate the cut it would have to be replaced. But its on the meter side (before the main breaker) and hot 100% of the time other wise I would just replace it my self or not worry about it.

Its likely fine, no way for something or someone to come in contact with it and its taped. Lots of exposed work in a meter socket.

I can't find a '127' for 3M, but there is a 127 for another mfg, and it's rated to 2000VAC
you're dealing with 120-G or 240 L-L...I'ld say if he cleaned it, and applied it properly, you have no issues...

You can use that type of rubber electrical tape that fuses to itself after a while. Or, wrap it good with conventional electrical tape, then coat it real good with the "Liquid Electrical Tape" stuff, and call it done.

Thanks everyone, I think I will men chine it to the owner and let him decide on what to do someday it could be a warranty thing. Any ideas on a good way to install a screw block is one available to perches ? I'm thinking of mashing one end of conduit or copper pipe then screwing it into the box.

If it is inside a box, I wouldn't worry about it. Good electrical tape is rated at 600v per wrap, and you can put on as many wraps as will fit and will make you feel good about it.

In the TV Broadcast industry, I've repaired 10,000volt lines with 33+ tape, put it inside a box, and it worked forever.
