Hi. I got this old anchor, an old record no. 4 vice and a pre 1965, true temper welland vale fireman’s axe for $25 Canadian. I don’t know a thing about anchors, but to me it looks old. I tried googling what is on the plate with no luck. Anyone know any info on it? Thank you. 4DF02852-82ED-4804-9D52-DA750F1B0D41.jpeg

They still sell that exact anchor, cast iron being what it is, who knows how old it is?

Greenfield products still make it although the shank looks slightly different.

Is it the same brand? I am assuming CTC or CTG is the maker tag?

Pretty typical anchor. Looks like it might have spent some time on the bottom and been retrieved. I wouldn't think it's particularly valuable. If it weighs 15 lbs it's probably good for a 15 - 20 foot boat.

I've had a couple like that, and they don't seem to work well for me. I go for the danforth type with the longer thinner flukes.

Give it or sell it to a boating friend.

The vise I bought with it was hardly used much but it was seized up from rust. I submerged it in a pail of diesel for almost 2 months and got it un-seized. Both items must have been in a damp location. IMO, the metal plate on the anchor looks old because of the slotted screws. I was hoping to identify the manufacturer from it and possibly dating it.
