I've got forks on my small tractor but I have pretty well maxed it out. Was looking for more lift capacity and picked up a small used forklift (4000#). It's a Nissan KCPH02A20PV. 1997 from what I can gather.

Anybody know what engine is in these? Looks in pretty good shape but I was thinking to change the oil. Can't find a service manual anywhere or any of the engine specs..

Remember it is heavy equipment and most heavy equipment is custom order to specs. I'm pretty sure but not posative it has a pretty basic Nissan motor. I have a rule when in doubt in a gas motor I use 10-30. Fist things first you need to find a Nissan lift truck dealer for replacement parts and answers to these questions. Your best bet with filters is to cross the over to a Wix. You can do that a few ways if you are lucky enough to get a dealer to cross them or give you original filter numbers. Get the number off the filter. If all that fail measure them and / or bring them into the closest napa or car quest.

I have a lot of experience on CAT and Mitsubishi lifts. The only times I saw those Nissans were when they came in on trade-ins. From looking them over occasionally they are very basic and rugged. Sorry I don't have access to shop manuals for those.

I'd start with the usual (oil, filter, lube machine and mast), check the rear steering axle and kingpins for loose. 10w30 should do it, check for the right filter at a dealer. If it wasn't well maintained you might need an LPG tune-up (cleaning vapo and mixer, changing diaphragms etc.). If you ever play with the distributor remember the degree of timing on an LPG is not the same spec as for gasoline. Blow out the rad with air if it is dirty. Make sure your hydraulic oil is clean and if the hydraulic pump is run off the crankshaft pulley by a little driveshaft; make sure it isn't too loose and lube it up if possible.

Good luck ! :rocker:

Should be
Engine is a H20-2
Oil filter 15208-55Y00
air filter 16546-00H10
Spark plugs 22401-v1414
Valves .015" adjusted hot
Needs tires badly- mast probably hits ground when tilted forward lifting drive tires off of the ground.

I would find the local nissian forklift dealer and go from there. Get the correct filters and information on what you need to know about the machine. From there, you'll have all the correct filter numbers to cross from there. In all honestly, you will problable not put enough hours on it to have to service very often besides greasing.

The dealer I work for uses 15-w50. Also make sure to spay the inside mast rails, rollers, and chains with a thick spray grease.

Been with Nissan forklifts since 1990. Masts should only be lubed to stop(control) the flaking and rust. If the rails are lubed to much the rollers will slide instead of rolling. This will flat spot the rollers.

Your engine should have a pad that is stamped with the engine model and serial number. It is mid way on the block near the head mounting surface. The H20-2 have a plastic air bleed on top of the water pump and the engine is black. The H20's were blue without the air bleed.

H20-2 were stamped "H20" and the engine serial

You guys are great! Thanks for all the information. I will take a look at the engine and see if I can get the numbers.

Also, I thought the tires were still pretty good when I looked at them. The front had quite a bit of rubber. I'll take a better pic tomorrow and post and get some opinions. I agree, I won't be running it a lot like a dock, but when I need it I'm going to need it reliable. The guy I got it from said it came out of FedEx and had been serviced by them regularly.

Drive tires are 21x7x15. Steers are 16 1/4 x 6 x11 1/4. Rule of thumb is when you wear the tires to the lettering they need replaced(some tires have a wear line). For home use, you could run them to the steels. I wouldn't suggest this, the mast will be hitting the floor and could be damaged.

That'll be an LPG H20 most likely.

yep h20. you should be able to get the oil filter at napa or any auto store. only problem is going to be matching them up. just bring the used filter to a parts store and see if you can find someone to help match it. worst case scenario call your local nissan(frklift) dealer and buy from them but you shouldnt have to much of a problem at napa or aa

I am ex Hyster and Cat lift truck tech.

Make sure you use a fork gauge and check for wear at the heel of the fork/Load arms. It might be prudent also to check your lift chains for stretch. A gauge is avaliable for this.

Good luck:thumbup:

Had a Nissan service tech come out and PM the lift. Real nice guy, been working on lifts for 20+ years.. Everything checked out.. You guys were spot on it was H20 engine.. He found a small propane leak coming off the regulator and fixed it. Parking brake was adjusted far as it would go and seemed okay but not perfect. For what I am doing it should be fine. One of the forks is a little shorter than the other so recommended grinding the other down a little so they match.. Only other thing I need to do is put a battery disconnect on it. Whoever owned it before took the key ignition out and put just a turn switch (no key). I've got teenage kids that know not to go in to my shop and touch but they have friends so I want to put additional safeguards in place. Wife already wants to put it and me to work getting a piece of 24" x .25 x 40" pipe to build her a new bbq smoker..
