If thats the case, it looks like the nly multi-bit driver made in USA is the 32505 11-in-1 with multi screwdriver tips.

$18.00 or so at Home Depot but not in store. Not sure if there is another local source.

My 5-in-1 is USA made, but I don't know about the newer ones. Funny, I have several Kleins, but my go to is a cheapo I bought at Sears Hardware 25 years ago for $3.99. It has two reversible bits and has 1/4" and 5/16" nut drivers.

Why is this debate still going on?

The Snap On one is made in the USA and has quality bits and more importantly it has replacements available if you break, damage, or wear out the original ones. Lifetime warranty so go ahead and beat the hell out of it.

You said you don't want a tool truck brand or don't want to order online. OK point noted.

With that in mind you've spent how much time, effort, or money, unsuccessfully looking for another $20 screwdriver.

I don't drink the cool-aid, but this really is one of those times when I'm not sure why you didn't just go to them first and be done and happy.

Tastes in beers and screwdrivers are very fickle.

Needs of the job and how it fits the hand matter a lot.

I need a two dollar adjustable length 2 in 1, Bob prefers a Klien and Joe an Enderes.

We all can get spare parts but each fits our uses and needs. A thin shaft and Euro style handle fit me.

And you Sir have the Snappy, probably truck service at the job too. Not I, no Snappy service here for 5,000 miles.
Each uses what they can get most importantly.

What debate? Just a mix of workable ideas. You choose what works for you.

I do not have a truck at all. Online or phone ordering / customer service.

IF we are indeed just throwing out workable ideas, then a 4 in 1 screwdriver is pointless. The better option would be the 1/4" insert bits with some kind of storage in the handle. Gives you a ~20 in 1? The 4 in 1 is versatile mainly as its selling point. A ~20 in 1 is 5 times more versatile and capable.

If it is pointless to you then please move on.

It is not a debate.

It is other members trying to help me find what I am looking for.

And I thank them for that.

This is really not a bad driver. And what's the issue with people being proud of what they make in a country that isn't USA? I feel that lack of pride is the main reason most imported tools are inferior. I mean, I acknowledge it's mostly chasing profit by American brands, but when you find a bidder at such a low price point, that bidder is not proud of their product just their price.

Op needs to go back to HD and reread the packaging. They say professionally made in Taiwan, not proudly.

Thanks for the correction.

Either way I was surprised to see something like that on the packaging.

I wasn't trying to knock them for it.

These multi-bit drivers are simply horrible to use. Way inferior to the 4 in 1 and 6 in 1.

I do not know about that...

The SO ratcheting one is pretty awesome.

Are you serious?

Just two totally different uses. I have both they each have their intended purpose. I like the 4-1 when im doing house repair or on a work belt. But when at a bench or working on a car I what my ratchet multi bit driver. They both have serious trade offs but shine during their intend use. It about efficiency for the task at hand...

Now in my electrical I Carry a 4-1, A snappy ratcheting, a set of insulated wiha and a set of precision wiha. Each one get used accordingly for a given task. There's plenty of overlap, but if I'm doing random tasks the 4-1 is most efficient. If I'm going to install 10 outlets you bet I'm going to use the ratcheting driver. So on and so on. It just makes the work go faster having the proper tool.

Same here to a certain extent.

The home kit has options the work kit doesn't. The electrical stuff I did needed other tools (kinda sorta) that helped it go safer.

And now the bulk of that is done its mostly closet clutter but awaiting a need.

The work kit has some beaters that would not see home use. I may have paid a half dollar for them, or less.

Because I am sick of buying **** off the internet.

When did it become an issue to walk into a store and buy a quality product?

Cheap, fast, easy. Can only pick 2 ever in business.

With your inquiry you have chosen fast and easy, therefor the "cheap" means that you are getting a foreign made tool.

I like this type, it is based on the Snap-on. If you live in a rural area, check out equipment dealers they have some interesting rebranded tools.

The Snap-on reversible blade screwdriver is SDDD41

Maybe you should read the rest of this thread. Or look closer at the fine print the next time you're at Home Depot.

From post $79:
I emailed Klein last night about this. Here is their response:

Alan,

Thank you for your interest in Klein Tools.

The majority of our screwdrivers are made in the USA at our Mansfield, TX facility.

Our online catalog (http://www.kleintools.com/catalog) will call out a product made in the USA:

And if you access their catalog and look at their multi-bit screwdrivers, there is only 1 that is called out as made in USA. The 11-in-1 with the mini bits.

I know people have said it works well but Im not a fan of the small bits within a bit type thing, I figure Id lose them too easily.

I get why the OP asked for a store bought screwdriver....there have been plenty of times when I just needed something now and wanted a halfway decent version that I could buy quickly. Sure Wera, SnapOn, etc make better....but if I need it today or tomorrow, those most likely wont happen.

Ha, you are the one making it a issue. First, you are demanding a specific COO. You also are wanting a certain level of performance, fit/finish. And then you go to the most basic, cheapest, and lazy option of retailers and complain.

Have you even tried going to your local hardware store, or gasp... welding supply, electrical supply, ag supply, fastener supply, or any other specialty industry supplier?

If you are really trying to support the USA, try buying from a local business and not Lowes/ Home Depot.

USA made and located businesses that provide a quality tool and will gladly accept your money-
