3" Waxman caster from Lowes. Linky

Waxman's site has less info than Lowes.

I purchased 4 of these for a toolbox project I'm working on (actually, 5, anybody have a bolt stretcher?).

It uses a 5/16 nut. A standard 5/16 from Lowes 'fits' but requires serious torque just to move the nut down the stem.

That's fine for the back of the tool box, but for the front, it has to fit under the drawer. I needed a half height nut to get clearance. The 'jam' nut will NOT thread more than half way through the nut.

I'm thinking it's a thread issue. The right nut should just spin on, right?

Or is it possibly an 8mm instead of a 5/16 (7.93mm)?

Anybody familiar with them?

why not take the caster back to the store and check it on the size gage in the hardware department?

Prior planning prevents poor performance. I didn't bring it with me to work today. :(

I'm betting if it's an odd thread, Lowes won't have it, and I'd rather hit the Grainger or fastener place on the way home.

I was hoping somebody may be familiar, but realize that I'll likely just have to carry it around to the different places.

Doesn't hurt to ask though, right?

Coarse thread M8.... I think.

M8 from Lowes was WAY too small. Hit Fastenal at lunch, guy digs around, says "it's metric' and hands me 4 that fit perfectly.

Fastenal on left, Lowes 'm8' on right.
