We have an old pitted floor in a garage that also has a few cracks. One part of the garage didn't have concrete floors and so we ran new concrete that looks really nice. We want to get the old part finish into a smooth finish as well so that we can put an expoxy or some kind of glossy finish that will make it easier to clean. We have turned this into a little diner to go with a bed and breakfast and the old part is the kitchen floor and the new concrete is the seating area. Would love to hear any ideas that would be least expensive and easiest to complete. The cabinets and appliances are already in.

An overlay can be applied in any type of texture, from glass smooth, slate trowel texture and even a thin stamped granite texture.

A themed finish to go with your decor would be what I would recommend. Old world type finish to industrial chrome. oops, just read: cheap and easy. Nevermind.
