i am trying to make the sliding doors on my pole barn more secure from thieves. my old pole barn had a hook that latched onto the door frame when closed but that could be opened with a thin pice of metal thru the opening in the frame. are there any ideas such as securing patio doors with a closet rod that would work for a sliding pole barn door? how do you do it in your shop? thanks

Steel rod slipped through a drilled hole with a padlock on both sides. Or, a blind rod with a padlock on the inside only if you have a man door. Make the blind rod flush with the outside surface like a carriage bolt so no hacksaw can get at it.

Gate bolt with a lock into the floor if you have concrete. Gate bolt into a receiver above.

I can think of a few other ways but let's see what the proletariat has.

As said,
After over center locks to pull the door tight against the frame, then paddle lock chain or cable on the sliding doors that is assessable only from the inside.

And then a real good lock on the man door.

A couple of eye bolts in the frame of the door and some ratchet straps (to other anchor points) would help keep the doors from being pulled out.
