It's basically an upgraded version of the 300, namely BB slides. The 300 was made for close to 50 years so there were a few style changes. The "garage" door was always a constant trade mark of the boxes.

Ah, dang  I really want one of those. As mentioned, 1989 is the year of manufacture. It was the last of the roll a bench with the tambour door. It is a bit heavier than the previous KRA300, but primarily the upgrades include ball bearing slides and no welded in dividers. They made them up till the late 90s.

The KRA300 was optional of bulk lower storage or full drawers, unlike the KRA400 which did not have a bulk storage option.

I think you deserve a you **** for the box. I too would like one, but am happy with my '63 KRA 300 with full drawers. I actually lost a ******* match with I think Zlking because I didn't know the 300 had been upgraded to the 400.

Awesome...so it is an 89. So that makes it 27 years old. Its in great shape...just needs a little cleaning. It had two keys with it too and the lock works great. Also the drawers do have the slide retention feature when pushed all the way back. Not sure what that feature is called but it works good.

It seems the 300s are much more plentiful than the 400s. Maybe the 400s are a bit more rare?

Some if the goodies inside the toolbox were:
Entire set of S-K 1/2 inch drive sockets from 7/16 to 1-1/4 with extension, breaker bar and ratchet and a deep well set.
Various taps, milling ends
10 or so crewdrivers
various wrenches
many sockets that are Armstrong or craftsman
snap ring pliers
2 Craftsman 1/2 flex head long ratchets
and quite a bit more.
The Netsuren stuff seems to be high quality Japanese wrenches that seem to be preferred by machinist?
Netsuren open end combo wrenches

Armstrong 1/2 ratchet that is heavy heavy duty

I think 400s are rare as they were coming to the end of being a useful design to many new box buyers when you consider what eles you could buy in the late 80's and early 90's. Based on a forty plus years production span, there had to be a **** ton of 300s made. When the box first came out in the 40's, it was one of the biggest you could buy. The fact the design stayed around for decades has to show it was popular.

My 78-79 300f. The Montezuma makes a nice top box and factory side.

Been looking for one for a long time. A bit of a unicorn in my area, finding one that is.

Yeah you ****.

i never saw that many of them "back in the day".

seems like if someone was looking for a bigger box, the 33" wide boxes kinda got passed over in favor of a taco wagon/ top box or kr550/555 combo.

i got real lucky when i found my kr300, the guy that had it was gonna toss it out, we used it for a couple years as a shop box, it's owner got layed off, picked up all his boxes, but left the kr300/kr537 at the shop.
i had salvaged the original remline pro boxes we used for the shop, and with my bosses permission, i swapped them out.

I like that top box in your pictures. I looked for one for a long time and gave up and Montezuma is what I did for the money.

Since this has turn a bit into a show your Rollabench thread. Heres my '63 with a side box. Right now it's my poor man vidmar storing hardware. Eventually it should return to holding tools. Thought about looking for a kra61 for the top, but have decided on finding an old school service manual trough to lay all my manuals across the top.

Nice setup/shop! What is your take on the Milwaukee saw table? I wasn't too fond of the chain vise and made a mount for a small drill press vise.

I have only used a couple of times, but it does ****. I do think that milwaukee makes the best power tools. This thread is cool I like the kra pics and the cool side boxes.
