Any information on this B & D Valvemaster Refacer

Hi,

I'm new to this and I'm trying to get as much information about this Black & Decker valve refacer. It belonged to my dad who was a motor engineer. As far as I can recall he had it for a minimum of 45/50 years. It still works, just needs a good clean and replacement belts and service. I have tried looking it up on internet but haven't found one that's a Type FM, the serial no. is 3.

Can anyone give me any details on it regarding year of manufacture, whether parts are still available, approx. value, anything at all would be much appreciated.

I will share what I can. I have one from early 60's, painted red (Type A). yours is much older. Mine was discontinued in 1965.

all parts were discontinued by B&D in late 1984. I have the engineering drawings/partslists of mine I bought a scanned paper copy off ebay.

some parts are available, the collets are 4c, goodman USED to stock them (VERY expensive). if you don't have the collets, scrap the machine.

goodman also sells the wheels, those aren't too bad.

for belts, I tried using vacuum cleaner belts but ended up sourcing a proper v-belt from a supplier online, you'll need to measure width and length to be sure which one(s) you need.

fortunately, aside from belts wearing and the grinding stones wearing, they are pretty bulletproof and last pretty much forever as long as you don't lose or break parts.

there are a few threads on here from a few years ago I recall posting pictures on, so if you do a search you may find a little more info.
