Any issues with mounting an auto retractable hose reel horizontally/sideways?

With where I want to mount it in my carport, I want to mount it on the ceiling to not take up walking space, but ceiling mounting it would have it hang too long and I’d hit my head on it. If I could mount it horizontally then I’d be able to mount it up high on the wall and not have it be in the way.

You usually can move the stop on reels mounted to the ceiling. I put mine just in my reach so no head bump

IMHO, I would not mount the hose reel on the horizontal plain because they are not designed to work that way.

I work at a car dealership and one of the other mechanics mounted one sideways (on the wall). Never had an issue with it. It's been about 7 years of daily use.

I have a 50" Harbor Freight air hose reel mounted to the front wall of my garage, the hose hangs right between the garage door and the man door and the reel is up out of the way.

It's been a while since I mounted it but I don't remember having any issues installing it in that orientation.
