Any Lawnmower Clearances Yet?

I'm thinking of ditching the Snapper RER and getting a push lawnmower. I was thinking since it's the end of nice weather that there would maybe be some deals but I hit up Lowe's today and there was nothing on sale. Some beautiful looking Husqvarna-Hondas but they were still 600$... Has anyone seen any deals yet? Are there typically deals? I've never shopped for a new lawnmower before. I grabbed the Snapper off CL when I bought my house.

Lawn mowers clearance can be very regional unless they are pushing out a new model.

I was in a couple of nearby Sears stores and while they are clearing out lots of lawn tools I didn't see any deals that were too good to pass up.

Check Lowe's they will sell returned mowers for 30% off. Bought on earlier this year for $2k instead of $3k because someone had returned it with .9 hours on it.

Went to my dreaded biannual trip to walmart for oil. Passed by the mowers and they were on sale. I know that the snapper mowers sold there are not the same higher quality mowers available at dealers (read that they are made by MTD). This $400 snapper was on sale for $300. The deck seemed thicker than other MTD mower that I've seen.

That was where I saw the Husqvarna push mowers but there were no deals at the local one at least.

I have one of those in pieces in my garage... For as expensive as it was it didn't seem all that nice. Under the push button start it's just a basic push mower, and when it hits a pipe and bends the crank shaft, it is junk just like a cheaper mower. I ended up with it through a sordid chain of woes involving a coworker.

I've seen far fewer seasonal clearances the past couple of years than I have in years past. I think most retailers have just been stocking less or gradually drawing back stock more carefully now in lieu of big discounts on seasonal items. Lowe's has been running 20% discounts on select seasonal items that last a week or two, probably just enough to shrink the display space and then leave what is left at regular prices afterwards.

But I've been going by both HD and Lowe's at least once a week looking for deals on grill stuff (this is when I buy replacement grates for my Weber Kettle) and haven't seen many discounts.

We don't really discount mowers, or snowblowers, etc. Unless they're used and a manager accepts a return, at which point they go through our shop and are sold at a decent markdown. However unless Cub Cadet or whoever on the bigger units sets a sale (map pricing) the price stays the same and old stock goes out first next year.
