Any locksmiths? Primus key

Two of the doors on my new build have three point locking hardware -- the actual lock/ handle hardware is coming from Emtek. They have small cylinders .. I'm told they use a Schlage key.

I'm trying to see if I can get a Primus lock cylinder to fit the Emtek trim -- can't get any answers.

I like the Primus lock/keys as we have to give them out more often vs what i would like ... the Primus is harder to copy.

The Schlage Primus uses pins and a side-bar, but is designed around a standard Schlage keyway, so your key should fit into the Emtek locks.

If it fits in them (give this a try, it should go in smoothly, but not turn), you can have the Emtek locks pinned to fit your Primus key. It won't engage the sidebar, but you're not getting your main security from the handle locks anyway.

Schlage makes cylinders for some other's lock sets ... I left a message with Emtek two days ago.

Never thought about getting the Emtek locks keyed to my existing Primus key .. thats a good idea.

I don't profess to be a locksmith, but I do have basic knowledge of pinning etc.
I did install schlage c keyway cylinders into a emteck deadbolts, if I recall correctly I had to file the od of the cylinder slightly to get them to fit.

Well, you sort of have full Primus control, in a security through obscurity sense.

Primus does not offer master keying on the sidebar. Your Primus key will work in the sidebar-less pinned up Emtek lock (assuming those cylinders are re-pinnable, which I'm pretty sure they are as Emtek is not ****).

So, someone with a key will have a Primus key. If they were smart enough to have that key copied onto a plain Schlage blank, it would work in the handlesets, but would still not work in the deadbolts. But if they were to take the Primus key to a locksmith, they'd be told that it could not be copied.

This is all assuming that your Primus key fits in a standard Schlage keyway (not all of them do).

The doors don't have a typical latch -- knob/ lever with a deadbolt above. They use a lever that you pull up -- this extends a pin top/bottom into the frame. The door also has a more typical mortise lock to keep it closed. The doors and windows are being made in Canada -Lepage.

When I saw the cylinders on the Emtek hardware --- just assumed it would work. They look like Schlage

About 10 years ago -- I bought two Primus door sets and deadbolts for a project that never happened. My plan was to install these on my studio and key the doors the same (same property)

I also have three new Baldwin lockset and deadbolts -- I was about to install them when the place burned down.

What model locks are they? Do they use mortise cylinders, key in knob or rim? Most brands interchange as there is a standard, sort of. I put an old Corbin mortise cylinder in a new yale lock and it worked fine. Just need the depth of cylinder to be right or you'll need anot her thicker trim ring

Just looked at there site, they are owned by Assa who owns pretty much every brand in the door industry. The lock cylinders should all interchange.

Googled around and it sort of looks like they use a key in knob style cylinder, looks like a 5-6 pin. Not sure how much larger the primus cylinders are of the standard ones though as we never deal with em since we are door guys that know enough to not get in a bind haha

Pictures of your lock would help - Schlage makes a cylinder to fit most any application, sounds like it would be a knob cylinder as mentioned above.
