I've been trying to find a 7/8" - 1-1/4" combination wrench set. Recently took a new job and need bigger sizes than I have now. If anyone knows of any that would be great.

Sears master set used to go to 1 5/16 but I aint bought one for a long time. I might be tempted to ignore the smaller stuff or take it as duplicates and buy a big ole set. Not sure HF has them in big sets but that generic import doesn't scare me a lick to get started with.

S-K made a set like that. It was an expansion set for those that had wrenches up to 13/16. Not sure if they are still available or not. Hope this helps.

Without knowing how much you seriously want to spend its leaves it wide open to recommend brands/COO/finish etc.

Short of looking for used items to meet your criteria or purchasing new individual wrenches...

if it's a tight budget and the COO doesn't matter

good ol' Sears Craftsman does still offer a 1"- 15/16" set, of their newer full polish lobster claw design. $60 Would have to add the 7/8" but would gain on the other end

https://www.sears.com/craftsman-5-p...ellerId=Sears&prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1#

But for the same money TSC lists a complete set of Crescent Brand wrenches 3/8"- 1-1/4" obviously creates duplicates in the smaller sizes but sometimes that's not a bad thing

Be interesting to learn about other options as this thread expands

Thanks for the replies so far.

I'll keep my eye on Ebay for good sets in the future now for sure, and check out cripe distributing.

Budget and COO of origin wise I would prefer USA, but I own plenty of Taiwan tools that have served me well.

I currently have a Proto ratcheting set that goes from 1/4" - 3/4", and a GearWrench non ratcheting set that also is 1/4" - 3/4"

I have a TSC nearby so I'll go check out that set. It could be a good starter if I can't find anything else before I need them.

That's another solid option and would keep everything uniform which is always nice.

Thanks again for the replies, now I just need to decide which set fits my needs the best.

I’m pretty sure Sears still has such a thing buried in their impossible to find things website search. Just search Craftsman or wrench and comb through hundreds of pages.

Another vote for ebay.

I'd check cripe for new first, and general listings for used.

Armstrong, Williams, MAC and Proto usually all return decent deals.

Why do wrenches always have to be bought in sets? I never could figure that out.

If you don't have that range, because you never know what you will need down the road. Second, its often cheaper to buy a set for the few wrenches you already know you need than buying singles of those. And its annoying as hell when a set skips sizes, because that day will come...

Because those sets have the smaller, cheaper sizes and you are buying in bulk. Sets of wrenches that go to 1-½" are not cheap.
