I've come into some mid-late 70's? vintage(API SF) cardboard oil "cans".
They are still full.
Does empty or full have any bearing on collector value?
I'd like to find an old service station rack and display them. I'd also like to use the oil.

If you open them, open the bottom with as small a hole as possible. Most collectors want cans that show well and missing tops or huge holes detract.

After some further research it seems using motor oil this old is not a good idea, at least for it's intended purpose. They'll remain full.
Anyone have one of those nifty racks for me?

I collect both empty and full motorcycle specific oil cans.

Most guys are looking for full undamaged/undented metal cans and will pay top asking prices for them. Early metal cans are the most sought after.

The paper cans have less value as compared to the metal ones. Still they are also rated like the metal ones. Full or empty, dents or scratches, etc. all affect the price.

Demand for all types depends on rarity and the name brand.
