I need to find some fork seals to fit a dirt bike that uses a 39 mm Showa fork. Seal dimensions are 39mm id x 50mm od x 9.5 mm tall. Can’t seem to find anything but a 51mm od which would require machining the fork leg. Anyone?

What is the year, make and model?

1980 Mugen ME125 Honda, limited production (200 worldwide) with "works" Showa 39mm forks. A bit of a rare bird as it shares very little in common with it's air cooled production counterpart, the 1980 CR125. White Mugen, red production model.

Kind of obvious but the numbers on the old seal don't cross to anything? I'd be calling my local bearing and seal house which I suppose you've also done?

Already been there, they are rebuilding the rear shocks at the moment. They can only come up with a 51mm OD, same as the Holly Equipment guys over in Japan who deal with a lot of the Mugen stuff. Google searches are coming up short.

Sorry I can't be of more help on this one :(

Thanks anyway! Sometimes they just require a trip to the friendly local (or not so local) machinist. Fortunately I know a few that I trust with an irreplaceable piece...

Throw this ***** in there and call er a day
BS 39x50x9 NBR - OIL SEAL
Or machine the fork and never have this problem again.
Or call Applied industrial. They switched to OEM but may help you.
Or any industrial bearing supplier. They have way more resources then even....google...
Is yours a single or double lip? Garter spring?
Looks like a double lip seal. The one in link appears to be a double.
