I just got a swivel 5/8 spark plug socket from gear wrench from amazon
on the third spark plug I removed the magnet broke
I looked on line and there are a lot of good reviews on this socket:confused:
amazon is sending me another one so i just want to see what if any one had a problem the socket looks nice a good swivel it really looks like a good socket
but the magnet that holds the spark plug just snaped

Was it Taiwan or PRC made Gearwrench?

Stuff happens once in awhile. I doubt if it's a wide spread problem.

I don't think the steel they use is of the best quality, for anything they make. I didn't say it's horrid but it's not the best.

I am a fan of their no questions asked send me a new tool in the mail policy however.

Unless they decide to warranty the tool through Fastenal in which case it takes THREE EFFING MONTHS. Haven't bought any of their tools since that monumental clusterF... & won't ever spend 1c on their stuff again in this lifetime.

I call and give them the part number I need replaced and they've never asked me where I bought the tool.

Re: any one have problem with gear wrench

I had a similar experience with an Armstrong ratchet that took 4 weeks to warranty through Fastenal. It's like an 18 step process and all 18 had nothing to do with customer service. I look around the place and I have no idea why anyone would want to deal with them. Prices looked insane and service can only be compared to your average government agency.

I have that same tool and it has held up fine for a few years. Although I have probably only used it a few dozen times.
