Any reason why I shouldn't purchase RaceDeck?

I have a man cave (1500 sq.ft) that turned out to be flooring nightmare. The cement contractor (if you can call him that) made a complete mess of my garage floor with undulations of up to 1" in places not to mention staining. I get seasick just walking on it! I purchased UCoatit epoxy floor coating prior to the floor being poured and cannot use it (ad placed in classifieds) and have seen Race Deck which seems to be the ticket. My floor really needs to be jack hammered out, removed and re-poured. I've investigated grinding, self leveling concrete and even thought about hiring an Exorcist, but the bottom line is all these fixes are just too costly seeing as I'd already paid for this once before. I think Race Deck will help bridge the gaps in the uneven surface, but am waiting on some tiles to try it out.

My question is, has anyone got a garage floor as sad as mine and used Race Deck to help level it out and salvage their man cave?

RaceDeck will contour the subsurface and you should have no issue with slight unevenness and/or the 1" gaps you mention. The patent locking system allows the floor to stay fully engaged in this type application. You can also use a quick set leveling material if you have a really bad section that you wan to fill. We have seen RaceDeck used is some really rough old garage's and in a matter of hours it is transformed...

I received my 18X18 tiles yesterday that I ordered to test out the theory of them helping to level out my sorry excuse of a garage floor. They worked great! Not playing to Jorgen's post above, but the Customer Service has been stellar with every contact I've made with RaceDeck starting with the request for sample tiles I made recently. For my application the larger XL tiles seem to be the ticket and I'm in the process of getting an accurate measurement of my garage so I can place an order. I'm going to take the sample tiles to my Dad to try and convince him that his workshop needs some updating as well. Will post photos of my man cave when completed.

At long last I have some pics to share with the forum. The project was not as daunting as when I was considering an Epoxy floor coating as the Race Deck tiles didn't require any prep that a push broom and leaf blower couldn't fix. Below are some before and after shots to compare. The undulations in the concrete are pretty severe and even with the Race Deck, if you get the light just right and look for it, you can see a wave or two in the surface. Being the OCD kind of guy that I am, I see it, but others have asked me what I'm looking at so to the casual observer, the floor is perfect. For the record, the floor looks 150% better than it did before, now having a consistent color and even surface which make it look fantastic! The slight cushioning effect while walking/standing is a good thing, in fact, I've not put back down my rubber work mats in front of the workbench as they're not needed anymore. Thanks to Jorgen's crew, their great customer service and product, I finally have my Man Cave!

I'd relate the details, but seeing as I'm not currently on blood pressure meds and want to keep it that way, I'm going to pass. Suffice to say, my general contractor (while I was out of town) let amateurs pour a 1500 sq.ft. garage in one pour with NO expansion joints on a hot July day. I had already asked him not to pour the garage until the house was just about ready to occupy as I'd already purchased UCoatit Epoxy to finish the floor with and didn't want the usual stains, oil drips, dropped tools etc.. to screw it up. As you can see, he didn't listen.

Problem is I live in Fl. where it rains alot and I have moisture issues with my slab thats why I went with RD. I had to rip it all up yesterday 18' X 18' because the moisture underneath is not evaporating and I could no longer stand the smell. No mold on the tiles but sickening stuff on the floor! any ideas I need help!

Please send me a picture or two of what you have going on with your concrete floor. Does it have any coating or sealer on it now? If I were to guess, your issue is not with the rain but with moisture coming up through the concrete due to a vapor barrier failure ( from the sounds of it, you may not even had a barrier installed when built). If this is the case, there are options. send pics to [email protected]

FWIW, I got his bond and his license! He will Not do this to anybody else and yes much more to the story such as substituting knockoff products (without my knowledge) to replace name brand countertops, showers, etc... out and out fraud and yes, I felt like kicking his ***, but did it legally.
