Hey, everyone.
Just curious if anyone on here has a recommendation for a shop builder in the DFW area.
I'm moving my family and business from Denver in June and I'm hoping to make contact with someone before then to make the transition smooth.
(I have six cars and own a home-based car parts store, so I don't really want to store things)
Any info would be great!
Thanks! :rocker:

Without sounding rude, what does that have to do with getting a recommendation? The Metroplex isn't so large that companies from Fort Worth won't do work in Dallas and vice versa.....and we're going to be right in the middle.

i disagree with that point but being in the middle certainly helps with that and getting to the six flags, i guess. good luck

My father had his garage in Aledo built by a company from Royse City.
I know there are exceptions to the rule, but we should be in a place that's comfortable for most companies to get to.
That being said, does anyone have someone they'd recommend?

I think for an average stick build like that there are too many possibilities. I haven't lived in D/FW in many years so I don't have anything specific for you. If you like the quality of your house you might see if the original builder is still kicking around and would be interested in the project or recommend someone who is.

Another thought is to check the BBB for your area for contractors.
Try the city-data.com forum for the area. Ask your neighbors or if your neighborhood has a message board ask for recommendations. Drive around and see if there are any yard signs from a contractor in the neighborhood and ask if they'd recommend them.
Call a few contractors at random and ask them for references.

Thanks. I'll probably see if I can find the home builder after we pick a house lol. We just know it will be toward the middle of the Metroplex.
You'd think that being a business owner I would have thought to check with the BBB.

I'm currently 45 miles north of Dallas but have lived in Fort Worth and Mid-Cities at some point over the past 25 years.

You will find there are "hot spots" around the metro where home building is booming over the past year and it will be difficult to get subs to even return your calls. I finally gave up and hired a local home builder for a cost-plus contract.

I recommend finding a local builder (within 5 - 10 miles of your house). Most subs do not want to drive 1-1.5 hours fighting rush-hour when there is plenty of work locally (as in driving from Fort Worth to Dallas for example). My home was constructed under this scenario and my builder finally hired new crews that were within 5 - 10 miles of my homesite.

Find your house .. then look around for some new construction in that area to find your leads! There are tons of builders in the area and your best bet will be the local one who has crews in the area .. very cost-effective for the builder ( and you ).

Good luck,
