Any recommendations for a wifi, bluetooth thermostat?

My shop is a couple hundred feet from my house. I want some type of thermostat that I can change from my home to heat/cool the place up overnight for the days I am actually working in it.

Any recommendations...

We're using The Nest in a desert vacation home about 90 miles away. I control it with my cell phone. Great product. The only problem we've had is when the wifi signal is lost (not a fault of the Nest) The connection needs to be physically reset at the location, which is a PITA for us, but shouldn't be in your configuration.

We have a Filtrete 3m-50 wifi thermostat. Nothing fancy, not expensive, works well. I use radiothermostat.com to set it up and control it. I can see easily how much our house system runs and at what hours. The thermostat requires wifi to work,

"Bluetooth" is a very short range wireless technology - you'd have to practically stand next to a bluetooth t-stat to use that type of connection.

I picked up an Emerson Sensi earlier this year on an Amazon Warehouse deal for $90. Does all the usual, but one big advantage is that it can use batteries, so it's easy to install even if you don't have a "C-wire" (power wire coming back from the furnace). Wife likes the look, and how easy it is to use.

Honeywell 8000. I've heard issues with Nest. Honeywell app is nice and seems to be bug free. I have 3 at my house and 4 at work.

Right now, I like the Nest the best. If I didn't have a programmable t-stat, I would've gotten the Nest.

I installed a Honeywell Wi-Fi Touchscreen programmable thermostat (model rth8500wf) in my home back in February 2013. Easy install with good documentation and very reliable service from Honeywell's web server that manages your account. Remote connection via your Apple smartphone, tablet, computer or Android device - works excellent. Bought this on eBay and have never had an issue. It works flawlessly for me with pre-sets kicking in at preselected times or I can over ride using my phone. I can disable heat when away on vacation and turn it back on from the Airport so the house is warm when we open the front door. There is probably a newer model available now but this thermostat is happening!!

I would second the recommendation for the Honeywell thermostat. I installed two RTH9580WF thermostats in my house. These have the color touchscreen. I can easily change temperatures or programming from my iphone or ipad. I've had no problems with them. I bought mine off eBay and installed them myself.

I waiting for the updated Ecobee3 (apple homelink compatible) to come out. What made me choose that is it has separate motion/temp sensors that i can place in different rooms so it won't go into away mode if i don't pass by the main unit.

I bought the Honeywell RTH6580WF.

I will have to say it easy to setup, hookup, etc.

I would highly reccommend it to any one wanting one.

The nest is really not needed for this application but either way any Wi-fi thermostat is going to need Wifi in the shop to operate. Also if you are letting your shop get down to 35F or less most digital thermostats quit working.

My vote would be on a $120 RTH6580WF Wi-Fi 7-Day Programmable Thermostat
by Honeywell as I have also had problems with mildly cold temps and touch screens.

Same thermostat I purchased. Works great, super easy install. Nifty power usage -- if you have A/C and heat, it'll run on a battery as it draws power from whichever connection is not currently active. And, it doesn't look like HAL 9000's eye is staring at you all the time.

I have 2 Honeywell vision pro 8000 thermostats and the red link interface to my network. Red link is the wireless connection between thermostats and other HVAC controls from Honeywell. The red link interface connects via Ethernet hardwire to my router. I access the system from the iPhone from anywhere in the world.
Unlike many of my wifi devices, this system has not let me down in 3 years. No resets reboots reinstalls etc. I have some wifi cameras that always have communications issues. The thermostats always work.

BIG fan of the nest - i have three of them in two separate structures controlling the comfort for ~3800 sf....all within about 80 feet of the wireless router...very intuitive to set-up and operate...they just work REALLY well...i had one act up last summer and called their customer service folks...top notch peeps who seem to have a domestic location : )

these are at my second home and pole barn and keep me at ease knowing I can check on temps from 225 miles away and adjust if necessary
