Abs is an area where there is alot of manufacturer proprietary information and most inexpensive scan tools either don't cover it or don't cover it well. There are lots of older threads covering generic OBDII scan tools here. Search by key word and brand.

In order to get full spectrum ABS code and datastream access, you will need a high end scanner from SO or OTC. If you only want domestic ABS ability Actron makes an ABS only scanner, no OBD2, or OTC makes the Nemisys which is OBD2 some OBD1(domestic) and domestic ABS for about 1000 bucks. My biggest expense is scan tools, no one scan tool covers everything, there is allways some loop holes. Don't forget about CAN(control area network) ability, tell me what kind of cars you want to access and I will tell you what will do it, I have seen almost all of them.:)
