You can ask your question.....
It can be answer by anybody here who has good knowledge of this. Also some may help you by providing contact of a good roofing company.

Why would you come to a public forum with a private message? Call a roofing contractor and ask them.

Guys,

I dont want to sound like a jerk, but if you are not a roofing contractor, why are you even replying to this message. There may be a reason, which is none of your business, that I want an unbiased opinion from someone that is not in my area. Just cold calling someone 500 miles away might not get me the answer I am looking for either.

Point is, I thought I had seen someone here who is a roofing contractor and thought they might reply so I can ask them the question. This is not a question that I want "opinions" on, I want facts from someone who does it for a living.

So is that asking too much ?????? If so, I guess I think differently from some of you guys.

Thanks,

Relax Bill, there are people willing to help and offer their advice. There are some very knowledable people here and others that shouldn't comment at all.

Remember the thread on the laying a second layer of shingles and the fiasco that followed, you had varying advice from contractors there too.

Bill,
One of the main purposes of this forum is to SHARE information and knowledge. So you do the forum a service by making it a public question, to which there will be many and varied answers. It is then up to all who read the thread to determine for themselves the quality of the answers. Simply asking for a roofing contractor does NOT guarantee a quality answer......I know.

djkeev nailed it....or is that staple'd it....or are we soldering it....wait,might be mopping?

Oh yeah, and if it's structural "roofing",as in the wood no longer is "salvage'able"....that very well can be out of a roofers scope as well.Just sayin, narrow it down a bit.

Internet Forums are a great way to share information and get baised and non-baised replies. I would sooner sift through 20 replies and use a common sense approach to understaning what is being said, than rely on one man's baised "professional" opinion.

lol. I shingled roofs for 25+ years and probably could have answered your question already. :dunno:

Edit/ LMFAO... pondering what kind of roofing question has to be asked in private.
like... when you lay shingles do you really lay them and nail them? wtf?

Wow what a d-bag post, if you want to speak to a " roofing contractor " use google or go pick up a phone book.

Most guys on here would be glad to answer your questions if you asked nicely.

Thanks for all the replys. My question was very private and I did not want to air it in public. Imagine you are in a group of people and you find out that one of them can answer a question you have but you do not want everyone to hear it. SO you take the guy aside and see if he can help you. Simple ? I dont think that is rude or wrong, it is done every single day.

Yes this is a public forum, but that does not mean you cant ask for private help. I have had several guys PM me for engine help with questions they did not want to put in public. Were they wrong ? Rude ? Was I wrong in helping them ?

By the way Maxspeed, what part of my question was not asked "nicely" ???????????? If you have a question for your doctor, do you take him out into the waiting room and ask in front of everyone ?????? I just dont see the issue in trying to find someone to answer a question for you in private. You said :

Most guys on here would be glad to answer your questions if you asked nicely.

That would be great if I wanted just anyone to answer a question, but I wanted a Roofing Contractor to answer it, period.

Sorry I bothered you guys :(

Would you walk into a waiting room of a hospital and say I have a question are there any massage therapists? If not I don't want your opinion?

Like people have said, just because someone isn't a roofing contractor doesn't mean they won't be more knowledgeable then some professionals

Probably a question to do with methods and warranty and legal issues related to work he had done. Doesn't want the discussion public where legal types can get a-hold of it later.
