Any simple way to fix a twisted tool handle?

I have a framing hammer with a cali style handle that I want to take down to an octagonal shape, like most of my other tools. The problem is the twist right at the end of the handle... Is there a simple fix to this? I was considering trying to fix it when I shape the handle to see if I can get ot to come right, but I am not sure if it can be done and still have everything come out symmetrical and proper. In my opinion, the handle is way oversized for a 20oz head to begin with, so I am free to remove quite a bit of material and still feel confident in the strength.

Yeah if you think it’s oversized, there’s a good chance bringing it down to octagonal shape will eliminate that twist at the end. You’ll be taking off more on the upper right and lower left in your photo. Sketch it out on the end to see how far you’ll need to bring it down while keeping the center in the same position.

Really disappointed in Klein atm. I have 4 hammers twisted the same way. Two of them also have heartwood in the handle and another has the grain almost horizontal to the face rather than vertical. All the same model/weight. Really expected more from Klein.

That's what I did. And I would have used one if I owned one lol. I ended up using a rasp, an ESEE PR4 as a card scraper, and a sanding block. Really happy with how it came out. It's not perfect, but close enough and worlds better than it was.
