Any suggestions PolyAspartic DIY garage floor??

Cleaned and Degreased my garage floor yesterday.
Called every HD on Long Island for a diamabush concrete prep tool and seems they are all busted.
Perhaps I'll have something by next weekend.

Looking into PolyAsapartic coating as a DIY project in the next week or 2 and wondering if anyone had suggestions.

Garage is 20' x 10' and I'm looking to do a full chip broadcast.
concrete is 60 + years old.
location LI New York, temps expected to be low 60's next 2 weeks.

You may want to look for this grinder from edco. It will work as well if you can't find a Diamabrush rental.

As far as a good DIY polyaspartic, you might want to contact Scotty at Legacy Industrial or Justin at Garage Flooring LLC. I know that they both have quality DIY kits.

Your weather is still favorable for epoxy.
Frankly, unless you have done this before I would go epoxy primer, 100 percent solids base, chip to rejection and (2) coats urethane or PAP for a top coat.

PAP is a foot race and you may find it tough to handle unless familiar.

I've never done before.
My thinking was that it is a small space and I'd be able to handle PAP. (with a helper cutting in ahead of me).
Hopefully i'll get a grinder for next weekend and can make a decision on product.

found the Edco grinder locally, $140.00 to rent machine and $125 for the scarifier attachments.

would you know if this is right attachement?
I am bit skeptical after the 15 different stories I recieved from HD.
Rental is also a bit more than Diamabrush @ $265 vs $140.
Rental co. guy for Edco machine seemed 100 X more knowledgeable/competent than those I spoke to over weekend.

I'm not sure which attachment you are referring to, but the people who rent the Edco machines are very familiar with what you want to accomplish.

Unfortunately everyone has a similar story about HD no matter what you want to buy or rent. If HD doesn't have a Diamabrush available the Edco machine is more than adequate.

I've beem making friends with the rental guys at HD. Seems the diamabrush is the best deal in town and the blades take alot of abuse becuase everyone know this. I don't think HD makes money on this rental so they seem to be frustrated with this rental along with the constant downtime. Hopefully I'll get a rental this weekend.

The rental co's will not rent the diamond blade on the Edco machine. They only sell @ $550 for the Edco machine. The last guy I called said no one will rent you a diamond blade, hence the high demand and abuse with the HD machines.

Probably should have hired a pro to do the job!

I also got selected for a Free Rock Solid Medici Coating from the free promo on GJ. Will keep posted on results.

Yeah, not really a do it yourself product....not really for a run of the mill pro either. It takes some know how on how to get it out of the bucket and onto the floor and look even.

The machine costs 1700.00 with freight, each head is approx. $600.00
Rents for 100.00 - 150.00 per day.

I know from experience the blades last a long time.

They wouldn't do it if it wasn't a money maker.

doesn't seem so in the Long Island market, perhaps Florida.
otherwise the machines wouldn't be down at the 15 stores i called.
all of the techs seem to tell me the same story that the blades get ripped apart every 1 to 2 rentals.

Finally got the floor finished.
After a couple of weeks I was bale to get new blades for the diamabrush rental.

Grinding turned out to be a a much much harder job than I anticipated. It took about 1/2 hour to figure out how to handle the machine. total grinding time was several hours. Maybe 4 to 5 hours including breaks.

Next I needed to get an angle grinder to handle the edges and curbs. this turned into another 2 weeks of research. I tried tackling without a dust shroud which was a bad idea. I finally got a dust shroud and blade that fit the angle grinder and got the job done.

The weekend to apply the coating finally came and I thought I'd be able to pick up spiked shoes at a local big box store which didn't happen, so I ended up making my own. These worked out great! probably better than store bought version and took me about 30 minutes to make.

I used the Rock Solid Medici floor coating in brown with a clear coat. I'm pretty happy with the results. The clear coat seemed to set up a little faster than the base coat which surprised me.
I was rushed for time between the quick set up of the clear and the fact that it started snowing while I was in the middle of process.
Due to the fast set up of clear coat as I was trying to spead the aluminum oxide I ended up with a few spot of heavy concentrate vs a even disribution as I would've preferred. All in all I pretty surprised with how well the floor cam out.

They probably haven't switched over to the concrete prep-plus version.
Much more forgiving. Lasts much longer.
