Any techs have the IR hammerhead?

If you do how have you liked it? I'm looking to use it as an air ratchet and for mostly belt and pulley work, transmission work, brakes and just general heavy line work.

Ive got the 3/8 version. Its ok. I thought it was going to be more powerful than it is. I bought it because I didn't have a 3/8 air ratchet and thought this would work well for doing transmissions and other assorted confined work. I bought it from Tooltopia, they seemed to have the best price at the time.

Joedodge do you have a MAC dealer that stops at your work? Another member started a short thread last week about MAC having their own version of the hammerhead--I always get Emails from them and last week they sent out links to a YouTube video about the new line of air tools. It showed an item that looks just like the IR hammerhead but didn't describe it or give any specs, I don't have a MAC dealer that stops at our shop, so I was wondering if you had seen it. I couldn't find it in the 2013 online catalog or the website that always *****.

same here, actually I already had an air ratchet but wanted something reactionless that wouldn't destroy my knuckles but between its bigger size head and not as much power as expected I must say it doesn't get used a whole lot, it does have its place tho, just not replacing the 3/8 impact wrench and 3/8 air ratchet just yet

Imo the hammerhead doesn't really replace my air ratchet. They both have their place. It may not seem like it but the drive end on the hammerhead is quite bulky when in tight areas compared to a ratchet.

I have the hammerhead, but I do not use it daily. It's one of those tools that you don't use often, but when you do, it's a time saver. I still have my air/cordless ratchets that gets used way more often, but they won't undo caliper bolts like my hammerhead.

I have one I got for super cheap at Sears (last one in the store, marked down 5 times at least judging by the stickers). As said, it doesn't replace either a regular 3/8s air ratchet or regular 3/8s impact gun, but i like mine and use it about as much as my air ratchet.

Exhaust work (headers on 4 bangers, make sure you torch them up real hot), engine mounts, brake calipers, strut mounts, seat rail bolts, transmission bell housing bolts, gas tanks etc etc.

I don't have a 3/8" impact or air ratchet yet, but so far the Hammerhead hasn't let me down. It's fast (7000rpm vs 300rpm on air ratchets), it's reactionless, it's quiet (compared to some cheapies my boss have at work), it's powerful. The only downside is the bulky head, but you'll get over it.

Just be aware that 200ft/lb is not a lot of torque to break loose fasteners, don't expect miracles. It will break all the 10mm and 12mm if you're not careful.

Im gonna order one from tooltopia. I think itll be a time saver and you guys convinced me itll make belt and pulley and brake jobs and most of all trans jobs like getting converter nuts out a snap

I've got the 3/8 driver HH. Helps out alot in tight places.
Wish it had some more balls to it, but it serves its purpose.

I have the 1/2 model. Very light for its size, good balance, lots of power. Used hard for 2 years now and if it died i would buy another.
