I just finished having a 18x36 attached garage built. I lined it with OSB. I know all the knocks about OSB but that is what I could afford and I'm excited to have it. I didn't want to do drywall. My two car garage is drywall, it never was painted or finished right and looks like ****. Might paint it when done with the new addition. Anyway I want to paint the inside of my new garage with a Wagner Pro Max http://www.amazon.com/Wagner-0515040-Procoat-Airless-Sprayer/dp/B004U3SWNA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1406511801&sr=8-3&keywords=wagner+pro+max I just bought. Any tips on using that model? Should I thin the paint if so with what? I plan on using a satin white paint to brighten the place up some. Thanks.

Just finished painting my OSB lined 20x36 shop. Started with a little Wagner power painter and my wife back rolling behind me with a roller. Got primer on one wall paint gun got hot and smoke came out. Use to be a old joke at work that they build all electrical equipment with smoke in it if it ever gets out tool is done. My wife insisted that I go by a real paint sprayer. Went to Menards and got a Graco X5. I think it should be similar to what you have. Sprayed Oil base primer right out of the 5 gallon bucket with no thinning. Got the white latex on clearance for 5 bucks a gallon. Added a quart of black per gallon of white to make the gray for the bottom. The sprayer worked very well. Because of my inexperience I had a little trouble with overspray. I am happy with how it turned out.

You don't have to thin latex, it pulls well stirred paint just fine. Get a large hunk of cardboard and practice. I used it to paint a 20x15 room with 14 foot ceilings and an intricate shelving system and it took about an hour and twenty to first coat it and about an hour for second coat. That included the roof. Love it.... Just make sure you practice and clean the **** out of it before storing

I would definitely thin it just a bit. The Wagners aren't the most powerful, and thinning it a bit will make it easier on the pump.

If you end up not liking it, Craigslist is a good place to find a good used pro model from Graco or Titan for cheap.

Thanks for all the tips. I thought I read on here some where to add something to the paint for thinning besides water but of course I can't find that thread. I haven't gotten the paint yet. Won't be around this weekend so maybe the next to get it done. I picked this one up off craigslist. The guy bought it then the job didn't happen and he had thrown away the box away so he didn't try to return it. It never has been used yet.
Thanks
Bob

Have a older "paint grew" model for 7 years now and I've got my 156 bucks worth out of it.... And no real issues other than the gun tip holder breaking once ($18 part)

It is a pain in the a$$ to clean up everything (a bit of time to do it right) but the sucker can put some paint down in a hurry compared to a brush :)

Yea that's it. Thanks guys for that info. The Menards web site says that my local store has it in stock. $13.97 per gal. I get some time I need to go paint shopping. Thanks again.

That looks good. Looks like a lot of work to. I'm just painting everything white. Then I'm planning a shelf across the full width of one end and then paint it. My garage is more for parking cars I don't drive much. 72 cutlass and a 90 3/4 ton 4x4 that I fixed up a few yrs ago and use mostly to plow snow in the winter. Thanks
