One of the other tech editors found out that someone had borrowed his MAC long-handled gasket scraper, and broke the blade. I can understand being pissed, but then rather than get it replaced, he made a little bit of a display and fired it into the garbage can with a huff.
I pointed out that all he had to do was go across the street to the huge service center that had a MAC guy that showed up every Thursday. He huffed that it wasn't worth it. I looked at him and said "Hell, I'm not proud..." and reached into the garbage can and took it out.
A week later, I had the new tool sitting on my desk at work, and my friend (his boss) saw it and said "You know, if you wanted to be a nice guy, you'd go give that to him."
Um... no. He threw a hissy fit and threw it away. If I replace it and then give it back to him, all he'll learn is that he can behave like that any time and we'll all take care of him (he was a prince 50 percent of the time, and a ***** 50 percent of the time, and everyone coddled him). If I keep it, and let him see it, then he might learn not to be such a baby.
Still one of my favorite tools in my box. I rounded off the corners so it won't gouge sheetmetal, and use it all the time.
