Any uses for this massive 1/2hp motor?

Well long story short my mechanically uninclined brother(didn't check how much HP the motor had on the name plate) got RIPPED OFF on his first air compressor purchase,
So now I have a good old motor and no name pump laying around, what can I do with this motor? Honestly might just give it away.

Those old Century motors were good ones. Are you sure the pump is a "no-name"?

Yes, the original motor and pump where swapped out long before I got too it, it's a V twin, and has no markings what so ever.

Can't you swap the wires on it to change directions? If so add a forward/reverse switch, and increase your options.

I've got old school Craftsman grinder that was my grandpa's . . . . it is belt driven. I'd love that 1/2 HP motor if you're ready to part with it.

If it were me, I'd use that motor for buffer or wire wheel . . . because like my grandpa's old grinder, there are lots of belt driven stuff out there at estate sales, garage sales, etc . . . . . . . . . . . . as belt-driven is totally out-of-date now since current technology is cordless/brushless Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, etc !!!

If you need a motor, come see me. I happen to have a whole bunch of motors that are 1/2 hp and maybe a little larger. I will give you one or two or three, whatever you need. I really don't want to ship them, they are heavy and I would have come up with a box to put them in so they don't flop around. Kansas isn't that far away from here, depending on which part of Kansas you are in I suppose. If you are interested, PM me and we can arrange for you to pick up what you need.

The wife and I drove to Lawrence, Kansas when a good friend of ours passed away. We attended the funeral and the drive wasn't terrible, but it was in the Summer so we didn't have bad weather to contend with. Was something like 550 miles and it took us about 10 hours. We could have made it quicker but we stopped several times along the way. Seems the older we get the more bathroom breaks we need.

My older brother had gone to several auctions and he has purchased a whole bunch of motors, all low hp motors (1/4hp - 1hp) but they all work good. When he passed away I got them and now I have way more motors than I will ever use. I got around 20 motors, some of which I have given away already. I still have several of them and it would be nice to give a few away to people who can use them. A lot of them are rather large in physical size, but not too large in hp. Still, they work good and if you need a smaller hp motor for something and don't care about the larger size, they should would work well for you.

Cobbling up a grinder doesn't sound like a bad idea, I'll find some use for it, if not someone on Garage Journal will get it for free.

I can't ship it, it's far too heavy.

The compressor looks similar to the Ciasons Industrial single stage compressor pumps. They are made in the USA per their website. These photos are from their old website. They do make nice compressors from the one I used in the past (similar to the last photo).

Ciasons s-201t: 2-3 HP spl, 2 CYL, 7.0 cfm,125 psi
Ciasons s-203t: 3-5 HP, 2 CYL, 22 cfm, 145 psi
