I will be sharing this as a professional woodworker for 40 years it is hard to find interest in the field. I blame the removal of shop and vocational courses from most high schools.

Agree, seemed like around the Year 2000 there was this giant toilet flush and thousands of shops in high schools liquidated all of their equipment. I think 2 factors in play, that was near peak in the exodus of manufacturing and it seemed like there was no future in it, and potential financial liabilities from lawsuits over serious injuries from rotating and reciprocating machinery.
