What are you going for? Solid color? I'm sure.a light scuffing and some plastic primer would be fine.
I'd probably just vinyl wrap it if I were you. The front cover would be simple

I’d leave it alone. I always told my customers that the longer you live with them the better looking they become.

That is true my wife's biggest resistance to putting them in our cabin was how they would look on our wood walls. Not an issue at all now that we are nice and warm even if the woodstove burned down overnight.

That is my point. I had a fellow who was a salesman for a big HVAC contractor in Boston. His wife was adamantly opposed to having the evap s in the house. He put them in anyway. A bold move in my book, but he did it and because she was comfortable in the house she never complained. I saw him a couple years later and he said she loved them. When you think of all the things around a house that you just kinda accept, a mini-split becomes one of those things. Comfort and economy and the longer you live with them the better looking they become.

Thanks @hefnerconstructionlc I guess I should have said the inside wall mount air handler. I don't know, maybe a do nothing approach would be better. Sometimes when you try to hide something, the more attention it draws, sorta like when people plant flowers around a telephone... never would have seen the pole had not the flowers drawn your eyes to it.
Thanks all for your thoughts.

I would vinyl wrap, this way if you want to change it you can just peel it off.

Also you wont have the chemicals on it and have to wait for it to dry
