Anybody ever used a "Michelin" floor jack?

I'm looking at this Michelin floor jack at Canadian Tire.

It's a low-profile jack, which is what I need for my new Formula Vee race car. It doesn't state the capacity on the website, but as I remember correctly it is either two or three ton (doesn't matter since my car only weighs about 900 lbs.). This jack used to cost $299.99, but it is now $199.99, which makes it a pretty good deal I suppose. I also get 15% discount here. I have used one of these before on a 2,000 lb. race car, and it appears to be a very solid unit. Very low profile, and very light for what it is (aluminum). The speedy lift feature is also nice if you're lifting a higher vehicle, and the saddle pad looks like a nice feature too.

Does anybody have any experience with these, or anything like it? I am on a pretty tight budget but this looks like a good jack for a good price. My other option locally is a low-profile 2-Ton Carquest jack for about $150, but this one looks much better built and is lighter. Any other recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

Go for it. That is about the going price for those and it sounds like you like it. just my opinion.

I don't have this particular jack, however, I have had the 3-1/2 ton for over a year now. I bought it from sams and it has been a great floor jack. The only problem with the one I have is the handle does not go fully to 90 degrees so storing can sometimes be a pain. I don't know if the one you are looking at has this same issue or not. I would deffinetly recommend the brand though.

Well I was in Carquest today and they had a good sale on their 2-ton low-profile jack, so I ordered that. Anybody ever used a Carquest floor jack? It appears to be a quality unit.

The only problem with the one I have is the handle does not go fully to 90 degrees so storing can sometimes be a pain. I don't know if the one you are looking at has this same issue or not. I have the same one from Sam's and it seems like a very good jack. Like you said, I don't like that the handle don't go up to 90 degrees and it don't want to stay there sometimes without a load. It tends to hurt when it falls down and smacks you in the top of the head.

looks eerily similar to this one from Harbor Freight ... I'm not gonna go as far and say they are the same, but I would almost bet they are built under the same roof.

I have the 3 1/2 ton as well. As LthrJeremy mentioned the handle not going to 90 degrees up makes it a pain to store, but it works great.

I did some research and it appears that the Michelin jack is an identical jack to that of many, many, many other "manufacturers" - including Harbor Freight. Not that that turned me off, but the huge price range did. I landed on the low-profile jack from Carquest because the guy gave me a good deal and it looked like a quality unit (it's always nice to see and try out a jack that's already built and not in a box).

The design of the handle doesn't allow it to, that's why I got the Carquest jack.
