Do any of you have or use lock picking tools? I trained as a locksmith ages ago, before all the "cool" tools were out (we learned how to pick with the old style picks you see in the ancient james bond movies, not the guns or bump keys, etc.)

I just have a small Southord beginner's set and a couple extra torsion wrenches, a Brockhage clear practice lock, and a small set of locks to mess around with. I need more practice.

I have a fairly fully set of pro grade picks etc from about 30 years ago. I practiced on some old locks for a couple months in the evenings watching tv, but never got any real facility in opening locks. Modern tools that vibrate I think work pretty well, but I have never tried one.

It used to be all you needed was a business card in your pick set with your name, but no clue what the law might be now regarding possession of tools.

I tried it a few times. I did a major fail at it. Bolt cutters, potable torch and BFH for me. Now I can pop the lock on about any car pretty easy. Sat nights on the Grand Strand can keep you in pratice with all the drunk people who lost their keys or locked them in the car.

There is the bag too,you carefull pry the door open with a screwdriver protecting the paint with a rag.Make sure the knob is shut good and pump it up.3/16" Brake line makes good door opening tool by bending it the proper position.Do this a lot because some people leaving their keys in and lock the vehicle up.It includes when the doors lock on you with vehicles equiped with power door locks,do not trust power door locks because of this

So is a crowbar in my state, doesn't stop all the builders from carrying them. If you have a honest use then I don't think they are illegal. Intent of the law I think?
