Anybody know about propane

Recently got a propane fireplace for my new addition- bought it off CL. Unit is in great shape and got a great deal on it.
Wanted to fire it off in the garage before I brought it upstairs. Hooked it up to 100 lb tank with regulator that feeds my Takagi jr. I have propane in the tank, the ignitor for the pilot works fine but I'm not getting any propane to flow.
Is it possible that the reg I'm using is providing too much pressure? The manual says that the fireplace is low pressure- would the wrong reg do this?

Fireplaces usually require low voltage switch either a switch or a thermostat.

The factory manual came with the fireplace- I followed the directions but still nothing. It does mention that it requires low pressure.
No propane comes out at any time- I can't light it with a lighter either. I figure maybe it's detecting too much pressure and won't allow it to pass?

Both heaters should have a similar pressure rating (10-15 w.c.). If its a "vent free" unit they are typically a bit less (around 9). Gas valve could be at fault. Call a gas service tech. Not worth blowing yourself up. Whats the name and model #?

The pilot orifice can take quite a few minutes to bleed out the air from when you hooked up the lines to the unit. Long enough for a finger to get tired of holding the pilot button, if that's the type you have. At inches of water column pressures it takes FOREVER to bleed a line.

Sorry, should have given more info. It is a Quadra-fire QV-36BA village collection. From what I can tell it's a pretty good unit as far as construction and features.
It also came with remote control setup as well as blower. The unit is in excellent shape and came with pipe and wall mount vent as well.
The manual says the wc is 11-14.
I don't want to blow the house up so that's why I'm trying this out before I bring it upstairs.

RJ had a good point. Purge until you smell gas, let clear and try again.

That did the trick!!!!
Really had to hold that button down for awhile. Really made my night by getting this going after a crappy day at work.
Best part was the deal I got on it. Found an identical one for sale on CL in Vt for $1500- cost $4000 new. Found mine on local CL for $50!! Thought the guy made a typo but he just wanted to get it out of his garage.

stupid question but does it say on the unit it is setup for propane?
wouldn't want to see you burn your house down because it over heated

me too and propane fireplace is handled by professional not by house owner because more things are important for installation. Remote Control can automate the propane fire size.
