Anybody know anything about these SP wrenches?

I'm quite interested in these SP locking flex head/zero offset wrenches.

I'm assuming these are a Taiwan set, which usually means it is also available under several other brands - but I've not seen anything similar, they seem quite unique.

I'm hoping to find somebody rebranding which might be more accessible for the UK/Europe.

Any aussies (or anybody else for that matter) on here rate them/SP?

I'm assuming that the switch is to lock or unlock the flex head. Perhaps SP Tools will try to sell in the USA.

Yep, been aware of these for some time. Havent found a rebrand. Too expensive to bite the bullet shipped from AUS.

I guess SP tools doesn't have a US distributor yet. There are a few sets on ebay from the land down under but, at $162-$172 plus $58.10 shipping, it makes them unobtainium for me at least

Why someone doesn't sell those in the states is beyond me.

I have some SP tools stubby wrenches and a few things. They are Taiwan made and usually more expensive than generic. Taiwan offerings. Chrome is pretty impeccable when new (not that should really be a decision maker). They sell nice air tools too both Taiwan & Japan made, reactionless air ratchets etc. I have their cordless screwdriver which has served me well. Its hard to say about comparing my non-ratcheting stubby combo's to these flex ratcheting ones as they may well come out of two different factories/suppliers and have little in common other than a logo. But don't expect garbage they take a bit of pride in their wrench offerings.

I have quite a lot of SP Tools gear. Mostly spanners and sockets which I rate very highly. The SP Motorsport series are a little better again and I'd compare directly with Sidchrome.


Their anti-slip design works well on both sockets ring and open end spanners - I can't recall ever rounding off a bolt head or nut with one.


Ratcheting rings are as good as anything else that I've had, better than Kincrome for the size of the ring and comfort and probably a little better than Gearwrench, which, these days, is right up there for quality.



Taiwan made, but they're marketed as trade quality and there is no doubt about that. Full lifetime warranty but I've never tested it.



That set is currently on special at $199AUD, which is $142USD, plus freight. It also seems to be being advertised as SP Motorsport, but I don't think it is. The SP Motorsport line is clearly marked as such and is much longer ....

Ressurecting this thread, I've been trying to find wrenches like this for years. I ended up making a version of this in 1/4" and 5/16" by cutting the wrenches in half and welding them together to remove flange bolts on vacuum chambers. The ones SP tool sells is just too much for unknown quality. Has anyone been able to find a rebranded version of this?

No, although I thought Astro was considering making something similar.

I bought the SP metric set despite it not having 18 mm on sale with a coupon.

I think Infar makes these wrenches for SP so, quality isn't an issue. Warranty might be but, I think they have the send a photo of what's broken & SP sends you a replacement. I could live without the locking flex head feature but, that's just me. I do miss not having an 18 mm but, that's life when Japanese car manufacturers don't use it. I would sign up at Sptoolsusa.com to get their emails. SP recently had a buy one get one sale where if you bought the metric set, you got the SAE set free. Naturally, I missed that sale.

The only thing that hurts the SP set for me are the skips because I work on a heavy mix of metric/sae from different manufacturers but the buy one get one does tempt me a bit. Even just recently I used an 18mm on a domestic truck where the engine is made in Germany. Would also be great to see a 1/4" and a 7/16" for SAE.

I'm hoping to hear something like Astro or Tekton picking up the design. With the ones I made the fixed double box side is a blessing that an open end cant compete with.

To bump this thread, I was watching a youtube video about 15 minutes ago by Bikes and Beards. They were unloading several tool boxes marked SP Tools. I looked them up and they have a warehouse in Robertsdale, Alabama. Near Mobile.

They have a website now.
