Moved into my new shop house with this little jewel out back. Besides some oil residue, it seems to run fine, has 25-30 pounds of oil pressure after a few seconds of running. I just finished my black iron air lines inside the shop and would like to service the compressor. Anybody know what compressor this is? I’m thinking an old Quincy? Not many numbers on it. The motor says it’s 5 hp. Only number I can find on the compressor are 5981261. Here are some pictures of it. Thanks

Need a larger picture of the pump. Looks sorta like a Quincy, but can't be sure from that distance.

As requested, here are more pictures. There is a better one attached but I can’t get it to show without clicking it. If you need anymore I’ll be happy to take some. Thank you

She's a Quincy QR-25 series pump for sure...325 maybe? What is the sheave diameter? 325 has a 16" OD, 350 is 19.5" with 3 grooves, so I don't think it's a 350.

Is there an info plate on the crankcase on the air filter side? If not, the ROC (Record Of Change) number should be stamped on the end of the crankshaft.

NOTE: The large hex plug to the right of the oil drain is the oil pump intake screen, be sure to remove the screen and clean it when you do your oil change!

Nice score!

Thank you! Measured this morning, the sheave is 16. I’ll be sure to remove that screen, thanks for the tip. There are numbers stamped on the case they are 5981261. So if I were looking up parts, it would be a Quincy model 325 with a QR-25 series pump and I’m guessing 80 gal tank? Any good source for parts or a manual would be great.

No problem, my pleasure!

I have no clue as to the numbers on your case. Your pump is a QR-25 (that is a specific line of Quincy pumps) and the model number is 325, so it's a QR-25 325. You will need the ROC (Record Of Change) number also when ordering parts. As I mentioned in my previous post, if your information tag is missing, the ROC # is stamped on the end of the crankshaft. It may be 1, 2 or 3 digits.
Once you locate the ROC #, you can then go to the Quincy website and locate the correct parts manual, which you can then download.

NOTE: Depending on ROC, some units oil pressure should be set to 15 psi, newer units between 18-20 psi. I suggest changing the oil first thing to verify you have the correct viscosity oil.

Ok yeah I definitely need a manual. I adjusted the cut off pressure last night. My oil pressure is definitely higher than that. I was told a good SAE 30 oil will be fine but I’ll read the manual to make sure. There is a 12 stamped on my crankshaft.

You'll hear many different opinions on which oil to run in an air compressor, but do yourself and your pump a favor and use the correct AIR COMPRESSOR OIL.
Since your pump is fairly old, I wouldn't go with a synthetic as many of the older rubber blends used in O-rings isn't compatible. I suggest using Mobil Rarus 427 which is an ISO 100 (30 wt.) unless you live in a very cold climate.

EDIT: Okay, so ROC 12 is a circa 1969 model. Go to quincycompressor.com, highlight 'PRODUCTS', right hand column, click 'DOWNLOAD LITERATURE', below the pic of a monitor, it says "Browse, View..bla, bla, bla...click on the round blue ball that says "Go". Next page, where it says 'TYPE', highlight 'Parts'. Under 'Key words' type QR 325. The parts manual dated 1/1/1969 is for ROC 12. You can then download it.
Go back to the previous page and find the instruction manual dated the closest to 1969.

I found it, thank you so much! I would’ve never found or know about that. Gonna go through and read now and adjust a few things. Thanks again!
