Not sure what this is. If you crank it with the wires connected the bell rings. If you seperate the wires and crank there is some voltage.

I believe its an early Megger for testing electrical grounds. If a device is properly grounded you don't get anything, if it isn't the bells ring.

I actually have a hand crank generator exactly like that, except without the box and bells. I found it in the store room of the high school I started teaching at back in 1988.

My dad gave Me one like it as a child, He said it came from the Phone Co. I think they used it to ring out wire pairs. If I remember it will give you a good shock if you hold the wires and crank it. It is nothing more than a simple magneto.

Its a redneck fishing outfit, drop the wires in the water, give it a couple of cranks, fish float to surface, scoop fish into boat, repeat as necessary.
