The tool box I carry in my work truck is decent sized plastic box with the small tray on top and an open bin down below. Problem is I tend to have it jammed so full of tools that whenever I need one I have to empty everything out because the one thing I need is, of course, on the bottom of the box. :rolleyes2 I did use one with 3 drawers in it which was nice to organize but there was no way to keep moisture out.

Is there a box out there that is...

#1-weatherproof enough to keep the rain and snow outa my tools

#2-Have an ability to organize

#3-Be portable so I can take it from truck to truck

Currently I have various pliers, pry bars, SAE & Metric wrenches, 1/4"-3/8" & 1/2" drive socket sets in SAE & metric, couple of hammers, test light, elec meter, etc, etc. As soon as I take some of the tools out and put them back in my shop I find myself putting them back in there within a couple weeks again.

What kind of tools are you talking about, mechanics tools or a handy man's tools?

I have a couple of those 26" Stanley black plastic tool boxes that seal real well but sometimes there is a vacuum created and is hard to open.
Dewalt has a series of toolboxes same idea as the stanleys except they have a vent you can unscrew to release the vacuum effect making it easier to open.
I will try to find a photo that I can post to show you what I am talking about.

A large pelican box that you can put the box of your choice inside.

:+1: If you want weather proof and durable that is the way to go. Custom cut your foam and you will have a real nice box. Plus with it being plastic you wouldn't have to worry about condensation like you would with a metal box.

The dewalt boxes are available in different sizes and have a dolly system available to carry all the boxes at once (all locked in place so that they don't fall during transport).

Have a look at the Montezuma LA400. I spent some time looking at what is on the market and ended up ordering two of them. They hold both SAE and Metric and are well built.

Guy I work with uses a Stanley Fat Max toolbox on his tractor, he's happy with it sealing out moisture. YMMV

I recently got the international 26 in road box on Amazon.it's been sitting in the back of my truck for the past two months and keeps everything dry and organized. I am really happy with the box so far.
