I've looked into various options and think I want the Mac PK1250 for my snap ring pliers. Anybody else have this set? How are they holding up for you?

Definitely don't get them from Mac....

If you are willing to spend that much on snap ring pliers, buy either Knipex or Snap-On's forged pliers.

If that set is all you need, save yourself $250.

Those Langs look nice. This is why I love this board. Id rather save the money so I'll be buying the Lang 3495 off of Amazon

I thought the Snapon ones were like this. Their online pic is so bad, you can't really tell. Were these older ones Lang too? The part numbers are exactly the same as what's in the current set, but they don't have the quarter turn switch, you have to completely remove the bolt.

Not that keen on the flat convertible internal/external sets as noses too bulky fit into lot of recessed situations .
Lang price reasonable though, certainly wouldn't buy mac or snapon in that style.
I recently bought forged 4pc sets in 7 and 9 inch as much more usable and not lot more expensive if shop about for good deal .

I think the Lang are made by stride.

Snap on offers two sets, the stride and a heavier set that costs more. People on here have said those are only needed if you work in hydraulics or somewhere they get used hard full time.

List price from Lang is $135. From MAC $315.

I have some of the Blue Point from the 1970-1980 period, and they look exactly like the Matco of the day which were Lang.

I think were talking about 3 different styles and they are not the same.

The Lang to me looks the same as the old Blue-Point. Are Lang stiil made in the USA.

The second style is made by Imperial Stride in the USA. They are quarter turn with no screw. They are rebranded as Proto, Mac, Gray and others.

The third style is the Snap-on forged with the screw and the thick handles

So does the truck thread need corrected? The part numbers on my snapon forged pliers, match part numbers exactly, from that $300 set that was mentioned earlier as being a stamped Lang.

I have not read the truck thread, but all I know is that Snap-on has sold the forged tips for at least 15 years made in house. There Blue-point dial pliers are rebranded Imperial Stride

I use Proto quarter turns and Snap-on forged in just the sizes I need. The quality of the Proto is equal to Snap-on.

If you need a complete set for automotive get the Langs. If your working on a lot of gearboxes or equipment, get a small set of a higher quality plier. Some people like Knipex, I prefer the quarter turn Stride

Could you post the two part numbers for me please?

The tool truck thread is incorrect.

SRPC-112 is the correct number for Snap-On's forged 12 piece set.

This is the image for SRPC-112:

And for SRPC-105:

The only other set I can find from the website at the moment is this Blue Point set, PRH406:

I wonder if they're stopped selling that Lang rebrand set entirely... I'm not sure. I know they used to sell that exact set in a red blow molded case with red grips, exactly like the lang case and everything. Maybe they dropped it.

Either way, SRPC-112 is 100% not a rebranded Lang product. I own an SRPC set, and we have the 12-pc Imperial Stride set at work, they are not the same.

Which forged ones did you buy? Snapon?

The snap on forged ones save a lot of cussing when you get those snap rings that spread apart but stay stuck in the back. You can do a lot more wiggling and such without the pliers popping out of the holes.

I just came across this thread. I haven't read all three pages yet but here's a pic of my Blue Point set and part number if it'll help anyone.

The MAC ones are just another case of of MAC and MATCO charging nearly as much or more than Snap On for an inferior product that "looks" the same.

These convertable style ones are ****. Knippex is the bees knees, and worth every penny.

Maybe grab one of the cheap lang style boxes for maximum coverage, but debating between multiple cheap style convertable sets is a waste of money. Figure out which styles you use the most, and buy those in the knippex style.
