Anybody recognize this tap & die box?

It's most likely Japanese since it looks a bit too old for Chinese.

From the picture on the box it looks like pretty decent handles in it !
Id go with japan too.

Possibly Taiwanese in addition to Japanese. We've had stuff coming in from there since the 70s.

I remember those shows They would set up a tent or move into the local armory or VFW hall. About that time a mail order company in California started building stores and selling the same stuff. Now almost everybody has a nearby HF, so the traveling tool shows are gone. The only time I see that kind of stuff on a temporary basis is at big car shows like Carlisle, PA.

I used to see them at the park and swap here. There was a tool tent there full time.

A very nice set and looks to be in superb condition,
I know that it was made in Japan, about early 1970s, this was a pre production run set, before a British tool company purchased the rights for it,and put there brand on it, ( a lot of tool companies do this)
the tool company is called DRAPER TOOLS,
this set came in many sizes and types, also Orange metal cases were the popular back in the 1960s and 70s, they were also produced in Blue cases,
Draper Tools UK still use the same colours today,

My set is in the blue box and is marked Japan. I actually used it some back in the late '70s and early '80s when I was fixing cars for a living.

It's very similar to one I have except box is blue. Mine is Kinzo brand from the 70s.
