Has anyone tried the new Milwaukee V-28 cordless drills? Supposed to last twice as long as an 18 volt? I have seen them on sale for $369 lately. Anyone find them cheaper? How is Milwaukee for quality? I have had it with my Dewalt. They aren't making them like they used to....

We've started using them at work for the past 6 months or so. We've probably got about 20 of them spread out on our different jobs (i'm an electrician). They are awesome. The batteries last all day long, compared to having to switch batteries on the milwaukee 18v drills. The battery life meter on the battery itself is a really cool feature. You can tell what charge the battery has before you even use it. The batteries also have a 2 year warranty on them btw.

When home depot was running a 20% off sale on all cordless combo kits this past december i bought the 28v kit, which came with the drill, sawzall, circular saw, flash light and a charger & 2 batteries. My 14.4v dewalt the plastic gear changer/clutch setting thingey is cracked and about to fall off, and my slightly newer makita 14.4 drill one of the batteries isnt holding a charge anymore. And with the good experiences i have had with using the 28v drills at work i felt it was worth it to get the set for myself.

I have 3 drills, recip, circ, impact and the stuff works. I got to go with TBM here and say there is a world of difference, you can toss the cords away. Where was the 369$, I paid 420 when I bought mine and I want one more drill kit, this would knock another 50 off. We have a couple threads on Hobart and SFT ongoing about thse units. Anyone that is fastener/drill dependant should think these are a great buy at almost any price especially where labor is a high factor, makes it a no brainer.

Ok I'm sold! That is my next tool purchase. Like I said, the Dewalt is about dead. I hate the keyless chuck and the batteries are both dead. The drill is only 3 years old but has been dropped off the ladder quite a few times!

I found prices everywhere around $379. Just do a search on Milwaukee V-28 and buy from your favorite supplier. I think they overpriced them at first and they weren't selling so maybe they have lowered the price recently.

What company is that? From what I could tell they are owned by A&M Electric Tools which is part of AEG, both of which are german companies.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Milwaukee is owned by the same people that own Ryobi and the company that makes the RIDGID branded power tools sold at the big box.

FYI- Milwaukee is releasing a backwards compatible 18v LI- ion battery sometime in June 06. It's on their website.
