When I have to get a new hand tool, I buy from Husky at the Home Depot. Anybody else use Husky? What are your experiences?

I use a husky 1/2 inch impact wrench at work everyday. it was inexpensive when i started the job. I'm a dismantler in a automotive recycling yard so I pretty much abuse it. Two years later I have no complaints. Nice gun. I've seen Sunex guns that look very similar.

I do the same, mine have worked fine for the price, had good experience with the warranty for the most part. Some of their older stuff can be really nice, got a 3/8 short breaker bar that has same look and feel as my sk ratchets.

I would say about 80% of my tools are Husky. Ive been using them since the early 1990s. They had a good reputation back then and were very competitive with sears in their warranty offerings. However, quality took a huge nose dive in 2002-2003 when they began outsourcing most of their tool line and pissed off a bunch of their customer base with really crappy stuff.

Within recent years the quality of their tools has improved tremendously, but still not to par with the older stuff.

Im still a fan, but miss the old days.

I have a bunch of older husky. They switched to a different manufacturer recently and I dont like the ratchets as the sockets dont lock on until you give them a small yank it seems. I preferred the old stanley husky.

I have the stubby wrench set and some deep socket sets. Never had an issue. I prefer the new supplier Apex over the Stanley stuff.

A majority of my hand tools are husky. Never really had anything go except a 1/2 ratchet. Took it back and got a replacement no questions asked. Haven't bought anything from them in a few years though.

A lot of Husky's ratcheting wrenches are re-branded Gearwrenches.
The ratchets are made my Apex/Gearwrench too. They're basically Gearwrench ratchets, with a quick release button. I also have a set of flare nut wrenches that are re-branded Gearwrench.

The sockets and normal combination wrenches look a little more underwhelming.
The wrenches are OK for the price, if you grab them on sale. I bought the 28 piece set for about $13 after Christmas. They look and feel decent, but a step below Tekton, or Kobalt.

I haven't tried the sockets, but they don't look like anything special. I'm sure they work fine though.

Love my 3/8" & 1/2" torque wrenches (Matco/Armstrong/Gearwrench rebrands).

Husky is at least the equivalent of some of Matco's Silver Eagle stuff...:D

I can see Home Depot from the field at the end of my culdesac, it's convenient for me when I need somthing. I have some sockets, a few air tools and some other misc. husky tools. And have done plenty of wrenching at home with them. Swaping trans in my truck, tearing my camaro completely apart, replacing sheetmetal and halfway reassembling it ... They work fine for home level wrenching.
At work I have mostly Porto and SK. But I'm not a professional mechanic either.

I have their rebadged Gearwrench flex ratchets with the normal length handles in 3/8& 1/2 drive. Only thing's I saw at the local-ish store that screamed buy me.

To be honest, I'd rather buy tool's at Menards.

Old USA Husky tools were some of the best value you could get. Their new Chinese stuff is garbage compared to other tools. Good enough for around the house but that's about it.

The newest version of Husky sockets are IDENTICAL to Gearwrench sockets. I lost a 5/16 deep Gearwrench socket and bought a Husky to replace it. Everything about it is Identical. The finish is a little bit off but that's it. So Husky = Gearwrench for the most part. But much cheaper.

I got two sets of tools from Husky, flex head ratchet wrench and T-handle hex.

The wrench set (10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm) was given to me about 5yrs ago and I use it a lot; it just works well, never had a problem with it.

They are both made by the same company/holding/associated companies/whatever (still not sure how Apex, Danaher and whatever else they are called are all related).

Gearwrench sockets, ratchets (and some ratcheting wrenches), wrenches, and a few other things tend to be Taiwan.

Husky tends to be entirely China.

Both have USA made torque wrenches. Gearwrench has some USA made swivel impacts too.

Both still made by the same overall company though.

The majority of my old tool set "long since gone" was Husky or Ridgid because I was a sup at the Depot for years and I scooped up a bunch of great deals. But since Ive moved back from Germany I havent bought a single Husky product. Im not surprised the quality went downhill after everything moved to Asia. I kind of watched the line go to **** on a daily basis back in the early to mid 2000s. But if you find Husky Pro or better yet Pre 90s stuff made by Blackhawk/New Britain at a yard sale youll get great tools

I used to use husky in a pinch when they were USA made. Last purchase was a 10'' adjustable that I needed ASAP (No USA alternatives at HD.) Broke the jaw loosening a 7/8nut.

They're older USA stuff was really good. The breaker bar I had was 15 years old when I finally killed it with a 5 ft cheater.

Not on purpose/not if I don't have to.:bounce:

I have random stuff I pick up usually incidentals. The torx sockets (at least the loose ones) are fine actually. The christmas hex thandle set is actually decent in my opinion; not like I'd run out and buy a good set of t handles though.

Some of the stuff is junk some of it is decent in my opinion. But nothing I'd actually seek out because the individual selection (not in a set) is kind of limited. They don't sell individual impact if I recall correctly. Lame but I get it because they ain't pulling from the taiwan section of import tools plus not really popular off the cuff.

Not sure about the warranty though, that would make me hesitate with any set purchase there to tell you the truth.

I like husky better than Kobalt. Sears Craftsman used to be my go to brand but not any more. Just too many headaches and now the are made in china like every thing else.

I have the Husky ratchets 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 and because of that the sockets that go with the set. I think the ratchets are the best buy out there and love mine. When I bought them they were made in Taiwan, now they're in China. Not much difference really upon inspection. I like the ratchets because they're thin head, quick release and 72 tooth. Pretty much a clone of the Gearwrench but with quick release and cheaper too.

I have no issues with the sockets but in truth I haven't used them much as they were just part of the kit to get the ratchet. At the time of purchase the sockets and the ratchet set were the same price as just the ratchet, so I bought the set since essence the sockets were free.

my primary use sockets have been husky for years. ive built my iroc using them. for the price and convenience for me you cant beat it (i have a home depot within a mile from home). never busted a socket either, all in all, quality may not be the best but for sockets im totally buying them, ratchets are junk (ive broken multiples, the reverse function seems to always **** out too), wrenches are junk too.
