Anybody using Ridgid's Jobmax tools?

I just noticed these today. Never heard of them before, despite having a Ridgid 12v drill and impact driver.


The ratchet, right angle drill and reciprocating saw caught my attention the most. I hardly need any of them really, but I do have the batteries already....

The reciprocating saw looks like a nice handy little tool. But I could get an M18 ( I have the batteries) "hacksaw" for about the same money.


What say ye?
Is it a useful tool platform that nobody can live without, or should I put my money into more M18 tools and forgot them?

It's basically just a 12v motor, with a bunch of different heads that attach to it. Like the ratchet/saw/drill, and a handful of other tools

I was on a site and a guy was using the oscillating head to cut some conduit and raceways for cat5. It seemed to work really well for him. He said he'd only had it a couple of weeks, and it was the 2-3rd job he's used it on. I like the idea of them, but they aren't always the easiest to maneuver if you're in a weird spot. As for the other heads, I'm not sure. I'd have to "borrow" one.

I have the basic oscillating multi and love it. Going to buy the right angle drill when I get a chance.

They're decent. I dropped one of the tool heads at one point and bent it to the point where it can't attach to the base unit properly.

A big plus is how there are different types of base heads - corded, cordless, pneumatic, which increases the versatility of the system.

Ryobi makes one of those, and I guess it's compatible with Ridgid's system. I am about to buy the Ryobi version (that's the platform I am on). I can use it as a sander, cutting tool, etc.. As soon as I get it, I am going to use it on my shed to remove a lot of fasteners that have penetrated the T1-11.

I have pretty much all of them and like them. I did have to move up to the 18v power unit though as the 12v batteries weren't cutting it. I think Ridgid is on the 2nd or 3rd generation of the 12v packs so that might no longer be a problem.
