Anybody using these ebay engine cradles?

I spotted this on ebay - they are hundredsof them -

They are anywhere from $30 - $50 - seems almost too cheap

Reviews are all over the place - anybody used one?

I have several: flathead Ford, 460, and a couple of sbf. Got mine at swap meets, but I think they all come from the same factory.

Like most inexpensive imports, threy work, but only after a fashion. The holes don’t really line up quite right, but you can get close enough.

I would describe them as of Harbor Freight quality.

Mine are a couple years old and were in the $25 Range..

Mine fit under a bench with the engine mounted.

I don't have that exact ebay one but I have 4 cradles that look similar, they roll easy, take up less space than an engine stand.

Holes don’t line up, frame has a bit of a twist from being welded together that way, overall cheap Chinese junk.
With that said they are so cheap that it is easy to enlarge the holes a bit and assemble on the engine. They are rather handy
Those added bolts that look like they are to be used to bolt the frame to the engine are metric and don’t fit the American engine.....great thinking people

I have that exact one that came with a SBC 7-8yrs ago. What a piece of **** but it does what it was intended to do and is still in use. As long as you aren't planning on rolling it all over the shop day after day for the next dozen years, it will keep the engine off the ground.

lol. I've used one of those with an old wore out ~15" car tire screwed down to it for just such use. Also have bolted a tire to an old push lawnmower frame & handle (minus the motor/blades) which worked like a champ to maneuver a motor around even some distance across rough terrain.

I've never used one of these engine cradles but for what they cost I just might next time I have the need. That's if I don't slap something together out of whatever I have laying around instead.

For actually working on one I have an old 1/2 ton engine stand.

There appear to be very few choices for a Ford FE block. I was also wanting one that would hold the engine (390) and transmission together.

I have about 50 bucks worth of square tubing, flat plate and casters.

that's cheap........free shipping to. Freight from CA to the east coast is probably more than the $35 asking price. With modifications, it might work well as a mobile base for a Lista or other cabinet. Lista mobile bases are $300+.
