I'm thinking about waxing my tool box. The ole lady thinks I have to much time on my hands. Am I crazy? I use turtle wax ice on my vehicles. What do y'all recommend?

Of course. It's a big investment after all. I usually wax it with whatever I have around or I like to use something like wd40. Cleans the dirt/grease off and protects and makes it shine. Spray it on and wipe it off.

Yes, but I usually just use my crappy left over junk wax, like turtle wax.

Meguiars synthetic for the car, **** for the toolbox. All that matters to me is putting a light protective layer on the box.

I just got a CM box from the 60's. I scrubbed with soap, then clay barred, and used Meguiur's 3 stage wax system. Just like I do for all my cars. Two days of detail work on the box and its ready for another 50 years of service.

I waxed my track box when it was my box I worked out of it at GE. If you didn't, thetinspray in the air would rust your tool box and eat the chrome off your tools.

Something is better than nothing at all. I use mothers, but any type wax would be good. I do it 2 times a year, more if I have an audience in the shop and they start talkin **** how the box looks dirty. That pisses me off, you do them a favor, and instead of heading in with you to the job so just maybe they can learn something, they wanna look through all the drawers and drool over some tools rather than toss me a wrench. And to top it off start mouthing off about " its dirty here, scratched here blah blah blah" after the first 4 words I usually interpret it as charlie brown's grandma, muhaaawef wahn wahn whaaaa. lol

Sure do wax my box. Also clay bar and seal it and take the tools out and clean out the drawers and liners. Why wouldn't I? It doesn't take long. I also wash and wax my lawn tractor regularly....almost as much as I wash and wax our vehicles. It's just a part of regular maintenance in my eyes.

I wax mine every couple weeks. My dealer gave me the SO cleaning kit. I like the cleaner and the stainless/chrome shine in it. For in between I use meguiars wet or dry wax. Spray on wipe off. I figure if I buy a new car Id take care of it and these things arent cheap so I take care of it.

I wax my truck wheels and my HF boxes too on occasion.

The wax keeps the dust from sticking as easily, is really the only reason I do it.

What cleaner do you guys use to wipe it with before you throw the wax on? Would a quick detail spray be appropriate?
